Abstract: Wetland of Sichuan is the most important waterhead of Yangtse and Yellow River, of which waterfowls are various. It's also a tranfer site for birds' migration. According to the data about waterfowls from previous papers and monographs, natural museum of Sichuan University, and several background investigations in recent years, the species composition of waterfowls, the species diversity, the resident of birds and the distribution of national conservation species are studied. Meanwhile, the conservation priority areas are identified using data about the distribution of conservation species and wetland, the strategies of waterfowl conservation and management are suggested. The results suggest that:1) 122 species belonging to 13 families in 8 orders of waterfowls were recorded. The G-F index of species diversity of the waterfowl community is 0.69. Among the waterfowl species in Sichuan, there are 18 species under national key protection and 21 under provincal key protection.2) Analysis of the schedule for bird collection or observation shows that the waterfowls are mainly composed of migratory birds and seasonal residents as a proportion of 80%. The migratory birds take a proportion of 50% and the seasonal birds also take a large proportion. It shows that the waterfowls in Sichuan take an important rule in the birds' migration, and that species...
