The technology of γ-spectroanalysis is applied in measuring environment sample and neutron activation analysis and finding mine in geology and nuclear safety and nuclear safeguard, etc. In the nuclear analysis , it is important to get nuclide activity from the γ-spectrum. At present, there are two methods mostly in the γ-spectroanalysis. One is calculating nuclide activity according to detection efficiency and embranchment ratio of every characteristic apex energy . The other is getting every nuclide activity and content by least square theory or the artificial neural network according to the response function of every characteristic apex energy. The pivotal questions in the two methods are the detection efficiency and the response function. Because of the detection efficiency relating to sample component and density and radial energy, experiment method need much manpower and material resource to confirm all kinds of detection efficiencies. It is simple to study detection efficiency by Monte Carlo method. The response function is related to sample location and shape and radial energy. It is difficult to find many single-energy standard samples. So we study response function by Monte Carlo method.About the γ-ray detection efficiency, the text calculated the detection efficiency of HPGe γ-spectrometer detecting six different basic environment samples by Monte Carlo program, discussed the relation of detection efficiency with sample component and density and radial energy , summarized a formula of detection efficiency with sample density and radial energy, afforded an easy way in calculating environment sample activity.
