Study On The Technology Of Marine Environmental Data Warehouse

The marine environmental information is the primary decision-making basis of marine exploitation, marine environmental protection, military affairs safeguard and ocean administration. With the rapid development of marine science and technology and the demand expansion for its application, the mankind needs more marine environmental information and requires more efficient management and service of the marine environmental information. So the improvement of data management technology becomes a research priority in operational oceanography. The technology of data warehouse developed from the early 1990s has efficiently resolved the problems in traditional database system, and provides new method for information management. But at the present time, nobody has been engaged in analyzing and studying systemically whether the technology could resolve the problems in marine environmental information management and service, and suits the management and application and how to resolves these problems and so on.The paper analyzes the existing situation of marine environmental information, studies the data warehouse technology and its application in the national and international oceanography fields. It focuses on the comparative analysis between data warehouse and database, marine environmental data and warehouse's data, marine environmental information requirement and data warehouse's operational environment and so on.
