The Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was introduced in middle 1970s by American professor T.L.Saaty, who made researches on Operations Analysis in Pittsburgh University. It is a scientific method of decision making, which combines the qualitative judgment and quantitative analysis. With the development of society, due to the simplicity and practicability in solving problems, AHP has been widely applied in society, economic, management and scientific fields, and so on. As a decision maker, it is crucial for him to select a optimum alternative, decision alternative may increase or reduce when decision environment is changed. Increasing or reducing alternative has no influence on the rank of the original alternatives in terms of human being's thoughts, this is the question of rank preservation in AHP. But in fact, the result is usually contrary with our thoughts, namely the phenomenon of rank reversal. Therefore, the research of rank preservation in AHP is one of important program in modern society. In this paper, the rank preservation in AHP is analyzed and studied. The main research works are as follows:In Chapter 1, the basic aspects of the AHP are stated. Then, the recent researches on rank preservation in AHP are concluded, and the main research...
