Commerce planning and network analysis is an important part of work in urban commercial construction. With the development of economy, amount of commercial network increasing, rival competing, Commercial types and distribution diversifying, which made much challenge of conventional mode of commercial analysis. It's hard to make right decision depending on map, statistics or sensorial judgment of manager. GIS is an effect tool of resolving problem. This paper is exploring the value of GIS in commerce analysis based on many examples. It mainly discusses two aspects. One is applying GIS in trade area and site selection of chain convenience store and supermarket; another is applying in city commerce planning.Chapter1: Preface. It firstly introduces the research background, tells the application of GIS in commerce, and then analyzes the content and the sketch of the thesis.Chapter2: Reviewing and summarizing the relative research. Firstly, the concept of commerce, commerce network, commerce plan and the classification of retail commerce are confined. Then it reviews the general theory models of commerce analysis, summarize the function of GIS in commerce, tells relative study and software and application of home and outside, and points out their shortage.Chapter3: Applying GIS in actual example of chain retail types in Shanghai. It analyzes trade area of chain convenience store using voronoi diagram, evaluates the coupling of population and network, and select site for most market share in competition using Newton model and Weiszfeld's arithmetic. For chain supermarket enterprise in different scale, it integrates the theory of voronoi diagram and Relly law to get trade area. Further, it puts the distribution of population into consideration; computes every trade area's retail saturation, gets serving radius and population of every kind of store at last.Chapter4: Combining GIS and urban commerce planning. First, it sums up the general flow of applying GIS in this field, then makes example in site selection of shopping block and large-scale supermarket. At last, it introduces the function of Zhangjiagang commerce GIS simply.Chapter5: It is about the conclusions from the study; Innovations and shortage for this study are also put forward.
