The dinosaur egg fossils are results of the calcium quality eggs of extinctMesozoic dinosaurs formed in endless geology history. The dinosaurs weretypical reptiles in Mesozoic, of which the origin, evolvement and annihilationare always the hot problem in science researches. The dinosaur egg fossil isan important part of dinosaur researches, which could help researchphysiology characteristics and living temperaments of the solution dinosaur,and provide the special fossil materials for contrasting with the dinosaur eggstrata.The detection and research of dinosaur egg fossils began in 1980's inCentral Jilin, but no one carried on systemic research about them until 2002. Iwas lucky to attend the project of Cretaceous dinosaur eggs research inChangchun item and chose the dinosaur egg fossils found in central Jilin to bethe research object under the tutor's leading from 2002. There were 17dinosaurs egg fossils collected in Quantou formation in Hongzuizi andLiufangzi, more than 80 slices of dinosaur eggshell fossils cleaned and morethan 300 slices of specimen. One optical microscope was chosen to carry onthe observation of the outside and inside characteristics of the eggshell andPLM and SEM were chosen to research the structure of eggshell. Thoughtresearch hereinbefore there are two kinds of new dinosaur egg fossilsdiscovered.Systematic PaleontologyO ofamily Dictyoolithidae Zhao 1994 O ogenus Dictyoolithus Zhao 1994O ospecies Dicty oolithus gongzhulingensis oosp.nov.Holotype Two complete egg fossil and two breaken up eggfossil(JLUM-D09-1,JLUM-D09-2,JLUM-D09-3,JLUM-D09-4)Locality and horizon gongzhuling liufangzi and urban of changchun, EarlyCretaceous , Quantou Formation;Diagnosis The egg fossils are near circular, on which there are circular orovals caves distributed. The shell units of surface inside are relativedependent with different distances between them. The eggshell thickness is a1.4-1.7 mms;the eggshell layer is composed of 2-3 basic structure unitsfolded;there are irregular big stomata among the basic units and there is arelative compact thin layer composed of mutual linked basic units.Oofamily Spheroolithidae Zhao 1979Oogenus Spheroolithus Zhao 1979Oospecies Spheroolithus changchunsis oosp. nov.Holotype One complete egg fossil (JLUM-D01-1)Locality and horizon gongzhuling liufangzi, Early Cretaceous , QuantouFormation;Diagnosis The egg fossil is oval and the average thickness of thin crust isonly 0.7 mm;the outward appearance of eggshell without ornamence issmooth;there is no obvious boundary between cone-body-layer andpillar-body-layer, of which the the thickness ratio is about 1:1;the the centerof straight and thin pore way is big.The detection of these two kinds of new dinosaur eggs fossils enrichesthe types of dinosaur egg fossil, which provides new fossil materials forcontrasting the distributions of dinosaur egg fossils, too. The Dictyoolithusgongzhulingensis discovered for the first time in Northeast China enrichesthe distributions of Dictyoolithus , which provide the fossils proof for theQuantou formation belonging to the early Cretaceous. The detection anddescription of out-surface crystalline of Spheroolithus changchunsisshowed the new understanding on dinosaur eggshell microstructure.The dinosaur egg fossils research, a part of the Cretaceous dinosaurresearch in Changchun area, not only systemically research about dinosauregg fossils for the first time but also based the deeply study dinosaur eggfossils found in central Jilin.
