A brief review of the hydrology feathers, the history and the current research situation of the Beibu Bay is made firstly in this article. Then the ECOMSED numerical model is introduced. In the third part of this paper, The model of ECOMSED with the orthogonal curvilinear grid system is applied to simulate the tide and tidal current in the Beibu Bay. We use different coefficients of bottom friction, bottom roughness and horizontal turbulent friction for the numerical test. The results show that, when coefficient of bottom friction is 0.002 to 0.003, coefficient of bottom roughness is 1×10-3 to 2×10-3m and coefficient of horizontal turbulent friction is 1×102 to 5×103m2/s, the computed values of the tide and tidal currents agree generally with the observed ones. The characters of the tide, tidal current, residual current , the vertical turbulent coefficients in the Beibu Bay are analized with the simulated results.
