Osteopontin (OPN) is an acidic single chain phosphorylated glycoprotein, which contains an Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) sequence, and it is classified a component of the extracellular matrix (ECM). The original observation shows that OPN is expressed by bone tissue, and the subsequent research found that OPN is expressed in uterine endomembrane of secretion phase, the trophoblastic cell of invading, the glandular epithelium of decidua and placenta.Pregnancy is a complicated process, it contains the early implantation of blastocyst and the embryonic development. Blastocyst implantation is the progress of the invading and adhesion between trophectoderm and uterine endomembrane, which involved in the remodeling of the tissue of uterine. Cytokine and adhesion molecule are critical for the reception of uterine endomembrane and the invading of trophectoderm. OPN is both Cytokine and adhesion molecule. It has been widely accepted that OPN binds primarily to integrin heterodimers via its RGD sequence, and its function is to mediate cell adhesion, migration, differentiation, survival...
