Morphology, physiological and biochemical characteristics of Distylium chinense (Fr.)Diels annual cuttage seedling under waterlogging stress (namely Y1------root submerged, Y2——partial submerged, Y3------all submerged) were studied in this paper, meanwhile, the changeof its main characteristics after relieved from waterlogging stress were discussed. Theory base will be provided for protection and developing of Distylium chinense (Fr.) Diels. The test result indicated that:1.The morphology and color of Distylium chinense (Fr.) Diels blade hardly changed under the waterlogging stress at 30 days, the lenticel proliferation and swelling phenomenon emerged on submerged-stem, the adventitious root produced around the lenticel, and the root partially is senile and color deepen.2.With the extension of waterlogging time, the content of soluble sugar, malonaldehyde (MDA) and relative electric conductivity increased, however, the content of chlorophyll a (Chls a), chlorophyll b (Chls b), chlorophyll (Chls) and root vitality decreased, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity decreased at first and increased subsequently. The content of soluble sugar, chlorophyll a (Chls a), chlorophyll b (Chls b), chlorophyll (Chls) and root vitality were ranged by size: Y1>Y2>Y3; malonaldehyde (MDA) content, relative electric conductivity and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity were ranged by size: Y3 >Y2>Y1.3.The time when waterlogging treatments achieved the continual significance difference with the comparison (CK) were as follows: The content of soluble sugar needed 6 days under all waterlogging treatments; The malonaldehyde (MDA) content needed 12 days under Y1 treatment but 24 days under Y2 and Y3 treatments; The relative electric conductivity needed 12 days under Y2 and Y3 treatments, however, relative electric conductivity did not achieve the continual significance difference with the comparison (CK) under Yl treatment; The chlorophyll a (Chls a) and chlorophyll b (Chls b) content needed 24 days under Y3 treatment, however, chlorophyll a (Chls a) and chlorophyll b (Chls b) content did not achieve the continual significance difference with the comparison (CK) under Y1 and Y2 treatments; The chlorophyll (Chls) content respectively needed 12 and 18 days under Y2 and Y3 treatments, however, chlorophyll (Chls) content did not achieve the continual significance difference with the...
