Tumen waterhead site is the main water supply source of drinking water for urban citizens and water use for industry and agriculture. It lies in the west of Linfen city and there are two coking companies near it. It is important to delineate the protection zones and strengthen the management of waterhead site for avoiding the pollution of groundwater in it.In our country, there is no uniform provision and technical standard for the partition of protection zones aiming at ground waterhead. And the means and technics are also immature at present. In this paper, based on area geologic condition, hydrogeologic condition and groundwater quality assessment, the technic of Waterpower Interception and Capture(WIC) which is a new kind of numerical simulation technic and used to delineate protection zones referring to the experience about the partition of protection zones at home or abroad.
