Most of electromagnetic wave are reflected by the surface of the metal bulk material, and the transmission can be neglected. However, in the nanometer metal film, transmission will become notable in case of film size is smaller than or equal to the skin depth, Therefore, for basic theory study and application, it is necessary to study the reflection and transmission of nanometer metal film. In this thesis, we investigated the reflection, transmission and absorption dependence on thickness of the ultra-thin copper film in visible-infrared region, dependence on the wave length in visible region, and the optical coefficient dependence on the wave length in visible-infrared region. The main results are shown:(1) Maxwell—Garnnet theory rather than BR theory was fitting to study the optical properties of metal (non-magnetic) film.(2) In the visible region, the reflection increased and transmission decreased with the wave length becoming larger(3) The peak position of extinction coefficient was red-shift along with the particle size reducing.
