Applications Of Failure Analysis In Platform Project

Two types of problems exist in oil platform are analyzed by different means, in which the standard inactivation analysis method in mechanical engineering is applied, lab test was conducted for the leak out problem of flexible pipelines, and monitoring on real structure was introduced in pipe foundation problem. Although the two problems are different, the same analysis method is used. In this paper commonality and particularity of the two types of problem are compared, the following are included:Firstly, the leak out problem of flexible pipelines is analyzed based on resolving of the broken pipeline, test result of material properties and detection data from the real structure. Because there was little first hand information, and flexible pipeline is not used widely in the world, no more experience can be followed. After the inactivation analysis was introduced and much information about pipeline was collected, finally reason of leak was discovered. At the same time, particularity of flexible pipeline was analyzed and comparison to ordinary hard pipeline was done. The advantage and weakness of flexible pipeline, a kind of multi layer structure was found out, systematic analysis to the use of flexible pipeline in the future was done. On the other hand, pipe foundation problem was analyzed base on filed monitoring. Because of the particularity of the area of the platform, new monitoring method was applied, because the sedimentation of pipe foundation can not be measured directly, fiber sensor and inclination gauge were used to measure sedimentation indirectly. Inactivation analysis associated with properties of soil support the monitoring result. Finally, according to the requirement of long-term monitoring on platform, possibility of monitoring with indirect problem method using fiber sensor and inclination gauge is explored.
