Aiming at particularity of Weather Information System(WIS) in the Intelligent Transportation System(ITS), this paper advanced and designed an intelligent remote measurement micro observatory based on double Micro Control Unit(MCU), and finished the hardware and software design of this system. In this system, we take the AVR MCU which is produced by Atmel Corporation as its core, construct a collection system including the basic weather elements such as air pressure, temperature, humidity etc.. In order to improve the system's integration level, we also add the snow depth meterage by the theory of ultrasonic distance measurement. In addition, we adopt multiple data communication and storage ways like wireless transmission and General Packet Radio Service(GPRS) to enhance the network interlinkage function and make it more convenient to constitute the ITS with other facilities. Meanwhile, in view of some disadvantages of actual weather elements collection cards which are applied in the ITS, we introduced the module based design idea, provided many kinds of interface for transducer and correspondence in form of universal collection card. In this way, the system is more flexible and distributed to meet the command in result of its configurable character and expansibility.In chapter 1, based on the brief statement of research background, a comprehensive description about the purpose and significance of this research is given. The current research status of both home and abroad and the main content of this dissertation is also described.In chapter 2, the definition, sort, application characteristic and software and hardware co-design of embedded system is introduced.In chapter 3, the main content of conception and definition phase is presented.In chapter 4, the realization scheme and choice of collection equipment is particularly discussed, and the hardware design schematic and software design flow chart are also given here.In chapter 5, the realization scheme and choice of receiving terminal is particularly discussed, and the hardware design schematic and software design flow chart are also given.In chapter 6, the main research conclusion of this paper is summarized.
