The Virtue-Ethical Analysis And The Countermeasure Of The HGP

The Human Genomic Project is the greatest project that human beings have ever carried out in history in order to understand himself. The intention of this project is to find out the position of 30 billion pairs of bases, and expound their hereditary meaning. With this project, the mankind can realize the healthy, macrobiotic dream. But "biology technology is very like the agreements signed by Faust and the devil", Human beings can not fence with the value baffle and the choice suffering, and we must be in face of the impacts of social life and ethical morality directly which come from the life science and technology, and we must reply the challenges coming from human beings himself. Therefore, on the base of the deontology, I make ethical analysis of the HGP from pursuing life value and human beings' dignity, and then on the basis of the ethical analysis I put forward corresponding virtue-ethical trend— building global ethic, therefore the HGP can really benefit human beings. That is also the purpose of this paper's probing and researching.In chapter 1,I make a brief introduction of "gene", "gene technology", and HGP, and then discuss the scientific , economical and social value on the base of these introductions. Those are the positive effects of HGP to the human beings.We should be based on some theories if we want to analyze ethically the existent issues, and in this paper, based on deontology, we will have ethical analysis to the issues which happened by HGP. In chapter 2,I make an introduction of the concept of the deontology, its development phases, detailed contents and Kantian's deontology.On the bases of two parts above, in chapter 3, the ethical issues about the HGP are analyzed: ① gene privacy invades human beings' autonomies;② gene discrimination breach human beings' dignity;③gene eugenics will result in human's lose;④ "gene determinism" may result in human right's damage;⑤ gene patent can not be defended morally;⑥gene therapy may invade sufferers' autonomies;⑦ issues about gene crime and gene weapon.In chapter 4, HGP virtue-ethical trend: building global ethic is discussed fromthree aspects. These three aspects are: ?the research and exploitation call scientist's morality , justice and responsibility;?John Rawls' "A theory of justice" provides one of theory basis of how global ethic may be;(3)how global ethic may be.We believe that under the leadership of human being's sense, under the care of ethics, the HGP will not deviate from the course of bringing benefit to human beings, and the human beings will bear up to the border of the light that expects under the scientific blessing too.
