DBMS For The Metadata Of Geology Survey

With the improvement of geological survey informatization, a great deal of basicgeological database has been built, which is valuable and the base of geologicalsurvey. With the development of social service, it is very necessary to know the statusof geological survey data at any time. It is the requirement of social service to publishgeological survey data to the public.The management system of geological survey metadata database is one of theimportant parts of the geological database system, which is used to save and managemetadata and to provide data source for the release of metadata. The system canprovide fast and efficient data service and will promote the development of geologicalsurvey and other relative fields.This thesis introduces the concept and the component of database. According tothe requirement of the database function module in the metadata databasemanagement system in geological survey of CGS, this thesis establishes the metadatadatabase for geological survey based upon the content and format standard ofmetadata in geological survey. This thesis depicts the establishment of metadatadatabase and the parsing method for metadata described by XML in details, andintroduces the design thought of database module and the realization of each mainfunction. The main results are as follows:1. It is feasible to memory and manage the basic data in geological surveyuniformly by geological metadata database.2. The integrity and correctness of metadata are insured by the checkout ofXML Schema.3. The appointed search field is set up according to user's requirement whilesearching in full text. It improves the efficiency and veracity of data search.4. The metadata management system for geological survey is built and thefunction of collection,storage,management,search and export areimplemented.
