The monitor of ice is a problem cared for by many subjects and engineering fields, such as ocean monitor, environmental protection, construction of water conservancy and water electricity engineering, exploitation of ocean petroleum and so on. The formation and disappearance of ice is related to on-site condition of atmosphere, water temperature, water salinity, water depth, onflow and coagulation nucleus in water. There are many indexes for glacial test, among them direct and also the most important is ice layer thickness and its varieties.Firstly, the paper discussed the puipose of subject study, current development of detecting ice thickness in domestic and international and the process of establishment of subject. Structuresand functions of comprehensive system of automation motoring and forecasting ice thickness are simply analyzed, two kinds of new ice method of ice thickness measurement are emphasized, which one is a barrel with a water pressure sensor to indirectly measure thickness of ice, the other is based on the weak electrical conductivity of water and glacial and air insulation. What's more, application in fuzzy theory about identification of ice thickness is educed and theoretic basis is presented. Working principle, hardware composition (including structures of the detection device and hardware circuit of measurement and forecast instrument) and software design (including single chip processor program and PC program) of automatic monitoring system of ice thickness based on pressure water sensor are expounded in this paper. These are emphasis of the paper.A few kinds of data-transmission means close related with monitoring system of ice thickness which are designed according to the different situation also introduced in chapter five of the thesis. Software of monitoring center in Visual C++6.0 has friendly interface and powerful database, and it can process data ininstrument of ice thickness, such as collection, communication, and storage.The spot experiment and laboratory experiment show a conclusion, which the system based on the two kinds of methods is reliable, and it can realize real-time and automatic transmission of hydrographic data. All of them can act as accurate references for some departments.
