Drought is a serious and universal problem of China, Which restricts the development of agriculture and forestry. Because of the serious disturbance, water stress has become the limiting factor of economic development in limestone districts. The paper aims at the experiment of Cajanus cajan. The seedling of Cajanus cajan in my experiment were one-year-old and planted them in pots, which were used as materials to study the characters of growth and reproducing in controlling soil water, so that these results could provide some theoretical advice on how to restore vegetation in limestone districts. The results were as following:(1) Water stress can lessen stem length, stem diameter, burl length, the blooming of branches and leaves of Cajanus cajan. Water stress also can reduce the accumulation of total biomass and modular biomass.(2) In different period of growth, the individuals have different plastic responses on heterogeneous water condition, which could have been made because of the difference of plants to water and the structures of the measure of theirs.(3) The individual plants have similar biomass allocation. With the reduction of water stress intensity, the plants reduce the biomass allocation to root, but increase the biomass to stem and blade in different periods.( 4 ) Water stress reduces plant growth and decreases plant biomass accumulation and reproductive output.(5) The diversity of energy of the plant isn't obvious in different water treatments to Cajanus cajan in different period of growth.
