GIS stands for Geographic Information System, which is also regarded asa sort of Decision Support System. Relying on spatial database, GIS is acombination of elements designed to store, retrieve, manipulate, and displaygeographic data. Owing to geographic information's complexity and speciality,the pattern of traditional database management is far from being good. Sopeople always pay high attention to the technological and academicdevelopment of GIS database.Up to now, there are four kinds of management about GIS database:whole file pattern, the combination pattern of file and DBMS, whole DBMSpattern and object oriented pattern.
