A.Robinson was a famous American mathematician and philosopher of mathematics in 20th century, and he was the originator of nonstandard analysis. With the development of mathematics his philosophy of mathematics thought developed and changed. He was a realist at first and later he became a formalist. For quite a long time, our domestic scholars only know his formalism of his middle period, and know little about his thought of his early period and formalism of his later period, especially know nothing about the reason of his change. This paper tried to break through the limitation by combing with his contributions to mathematics and philosophy of mathematics, discussed the reason of the form, change and development of the philosophy of mathematics thought in different periods of his life, especially the essence of his formalism from ontology, epistemology and methodology, and the value of his thought to the theory and practice.
