With the accelerating development of urban construction, the slope geological hazard becomes increasingly severe in practical projects. In order to decrease the damages caused by geological hazards, the geological engineers have done lots of work in this field during past decades. Unfortunately, the lackness of systematicness and integration, poor visualization, as well as low level of information sharing is common problems in these research results. To overcome these problems, based on the ArcView platform and the methods for slope geological hazard prediction, taking the Dalian Economic and Technology Development Zone as the research area, the design scheme and planning of the prediction and evaluation system for slope geological hazard is studied in this paper.In this paper, the selection of factors for the slope stability prediction and evaluation and their quantification methods are discussed, the artificial neural network method based on genetic algorithm, the fuzzy reliability algorithm based on fuzzy integrated judge method and multianalysis method are introduced as analysis methods to build a model for the slope geological hazard prediction, then C++ is used to develop the models' computing programs, and Avenue is used to redevelop component to implement the integration of these models and ArcView GIS platform. Crosswise validation of the prediction and evaluation results of the slope geological hazard in system database using this model can be done through the user interface directly, by acting this way, authorization and reliability of this model can be guaranteed. The DEM that is established on the Dalian Economic and Technology Development Zone in this paper could be applied as the basic information for further research.The prediction and evaluation system presented in this paper makes full use of the basic functions of GIS, combines with the characters of the slope geological hazard prediction and evaluation, can implement functions such as data management, graphical processing and spatial analysis and so on, and be able to provide ability of query, assessment, and visualization of information on the slope geological hazard in practical projects.
