There are abundant data and information in database of Geographic Information System (GIS). These data and information include much implicit and valuable knowledge. Presently GIS is limited in collection, query and Statistic of data. It can not discover relations and rules in data. While data mining techniques can deeply analyze data of GIS to discover the implicit knowledge for severing people. Discover knowledge from spatial database of GIS with data mining techniques, which is spatial data mining, has been an important research aspect in data mining fields. This paper puts emphasis on the research of the application of data mining to GIS. Based on the customer information management system, which is developed with MapX of Component GIS, this paper will introduce a new system structure of spatial data mining based on MapX. The data mining system(DMGIS) based on the system structure, is designed to discover the customers spatial distributing characteristic. It is convenient to manipulate spatial and non-spatial data with MapX , and solute the problem of the data conformity and pretreatment in spatial data mining. Generalization technique is used to generalize the attribute data and construct the concept hierarchies in data pretreatment. Finally the association rules algorithm is used to get implicit knowledge from the data pretreated. It is proved that the system structure of spatial data mining based on MapX can be valid to integrate data mining and GIS.
