With the flourishing development of our national economy, urban construction has been launched with unprecedented pace and scale. Urban appearance has been changing with each passing day. A large number of construction projects make the geotechnical exploration reach considerable scale both in depth and scope. All of these exploration materials are the most valuable stratum information resources; they not only play a quite important role in past urban planning and construction, but also have reutilization value. Once they are administrated systematically and utilized synthetically, they will present great significance both to urban regional planning and individual engineering construction.The study purpose of this subject is to implement synthetical management, analyses and appraise towards geological engineering (including hydrogeology ) data of Beijing and fulfill share of regional stratum information and groundwater resources, which provide services to overall expansion of geological engineering exploration, hydrogeology exploration, geotechnical design and consultant, offer a set of completed, intuitive and concise urban stratum and groundwater conditions data for the business-plan administrative department, engineers and technicians, offer basis for scheme and business decision, provide field geotechnical appraisement and consultant suggestions to project set-up, site-selection, feasibility demonstration and first-phrase exploration some other pre-phase work. Offer important basis to the found of the urban geological disaster prevention system, together with its service-offer to urban disaster resistant and reduction, protection and recovery to geological environment as well as the development and utilization of territorial resources, provide abundant and systematic materials for urban geological research, like compilation of urban engineering geological map, hydrogeology map, zoning map of building foundation suitability, support of deep pit, and waterproof design. All of the above meet various kinds of quick demands towards geological information.The SQL-sever database and the qusi-input data, together with the pre-realized function of the information system is conformed in this paper through the client-demand questionnaire on "engineering geological information system of Beijing", with the support of GIS technology and the C/S system structure which is one of the key technology of GIS application system. The screening, classification, and encode over the existed data were performed, and urban geotechnical exploration-related materials were obtained through analyses and practical application demand of Zhonghang Exploration and Design Institution. Through expert discussion and in principle of compact and utility, the following aspects of system-needed data were obtained: (1) engineering information (2) field stratum information (3) major index of physical and mechanical characteristics of each layer (4) bore hole information (5) bore-encountered stratum information (6) information on kinds of specific characteristics experiment (7) information on engineering exploration report (8)remark information. The above 8 aspects were grouped into 16 inter-correlated database tables, which were associated with engineering number. The needed information is to be logged in database in manual input (as for physical and mechanical parameters of stratum and rock and soil mass) and scanning (as for plane s, profiles and other diagrams).The digital maps provided by Beijing mapping and design institution, altogether 213 sheets and with a 1:25000 scale and Beijing coordinate system, served as base map. The data covered all 18 counties of Beijing, with E100 data format. Necessary modification were carried out to the base map using Mapgis in order of the system demands, for example: further division to layer of the base map, addition of new founded ground projects to the maps for its accordance to reality.The geological model of Beijing was founded according to the existed geological material and an...
