A Taxonomic Study On The Genus Saussurea In Henan Province

In this paper, the concise history and present conditions in the classification of the genus Saussurea DC. have been reviewed. The principles and foundations and the law of original and evolution of the geuns have also been tounched on.By having been identified the specimens and taxonomic study of Saussurea DC. 15 species and 3 varieties which belong to 3 subgenus of the genus in Henan province. There is one newly-found variety: S. japonlca Franch. Var. incana Ch. Sh. Zhu et Sh.X. Zhu. The distinctive feature between the newly-found variety and the original species is that the former is densely covered pallens short striga and the middle and lower cauline integer. The author disagree on Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae , which S.dutaillyaaa Franch. has been treated as a synonym of S.cordifolia Hemsl., consider that there are obvious differentments between them, so S. dutaillyana Franch. should be treated as a free species; The author also disagree on Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae, which S. dutaillyana Franch. var. shensiensis Pai. and S. dutaillyana Franch. var. macrocepbala (Ling) X. Y. Wu have been treated as a synonym of S. sutchuensis Hemsl., consider that there will more proper if the two species are treated as varieties of S. dutaillyana Franch.There is one name in Flora of Henan has been revised, S. renif'orals Ling has treated as a synonym of S. acroaeleana Hand.-Mazz.. And there is also one species in Flora of Henan has not been recorded, that is S. licentiana Hand.-Mazz.Moreover, a systematic arrangement on the genus in Henan province and an artificial Key to species have been made. Descriptions have been given to the genus, subgenus , species and the varieties. The distribution, habits and main uses have been recorded. Some species have also been briefly discussed.
