At present, the identification and classification of the bryophytes mainly depends on the form features of the bryophytes in the light of comprehensive analysis of various properties. The development of the technology of photo magnification plays a very important role in the ways of describing and distinguishing those form features. However, traditional optics photography has proved to be defective in the work flow of image-forming, preservation, duplication, photo processing and exchanging.Focused on the computer imaging of the bryophytes, the paper explains the principles and introduces the apparatus, methods and techniques in different modes of image forming together with photo processing at the later stage. An analysis of the pictures taken by photo-scanning, digital camera close-ups, micro-distance photograph and CCD video frequency capturing board was conducted. The results are as follows: Photo-scanning is time-consuming and lacking in precision due to frequent medium conversion, whereas the operation is easy and steady. This technique can be used at the elementary stage of the computer imaging of the bryophytes and can also be used to input old photos. The camera of Olympus C-1400XL, with high tone but low distinguishing rate and limited change zoom lens, can be applied to short-distance photograph, describing the bryophytes community appearance and the ecological environment they live in. Casio QV2800, with excellent closing-up capability and relatively high distinguishing rate, is good atmicro-distance photograph presenting the shape of stems and leaves. CCD video frequency capturing board, combined with microscopes, can clearly show cell construction. While capturing single picture, CCD produces pictures inferior in tone and precision because of the disturbance of electronic noises. Therefore CCD is fit for describing the fine structures of the stems and leaves. In general, the digital pictures are incomparably superior to traditional ones in duplicating, checking, searching, processing and magnifying. The final quality of pictures taken by the stated four techniques is based on proper integration and adept practice of the four techniques. Moreover, the paper probes into the techniques of digital imaging, the making set by mica for observing bryophytes, the photo processing at the later stage and so on.
