Leaf samples collected from 13 Eucalyptus wetarensis provenances populations introduced from the geographic range from Eucalyptus wetarensis in the east islands of Indonesia are analysed for RAPD variation.The genomic DNA is extracted from 78 individuals leaves using modified CTAB method.The analysis of the genomic DNA which amplified by 20 arbitrary 10-base primers screened from 214 arbitrary 10-base primers reveals 165 amplified loci with 127 polymorphic loci and the proporation of polymorphic loci is 77.0%.Genetic variability indexes are determined using 165 amplified loci including proporation of polymorphic loci (P), diversity coefficient (DC), proporation of diversity coefficient (PDC) .Shannon' s index of phenotypic diversity (Ho) ,Nei ' s unbiased genetic identity (I) and Nei' s unbiased estimates of genetic distance (D) .Genetic analysis shows there is highly variation in genomic DNA with P value at 77.0%.The provenance of 17841 is the most one with 76.2% at P values,so is 17834 with 73.6%.The estimates of Ho values vary from 0.0423 to 0.5502,with an average of 0.2935 among populations.The variability is high among populations with an average of 0.5982 DC value,2.808% PDC value and with the average Of 0.0650 unbiased estimates of genetic distance.The dendrogram using two different methods shows that a high similarity is existed among populations of 17830,17831,17832,17834,17835,17836,17837,but there is a lower similarity between 17838 and the other populations.The study provides a scientific foundation on early selection in E.wetarensis populations.
