Object:To explore the distribution difference of apolipoprotein B (apoB) allele gene between the zhuangzu and hanzu of guangxi and the relationship between the gene mutation and the coronary heart disease(CHD) or the relationship between the gene mutation and atherosclerotic cerebral infarction (ACI). Methods: Xbal and EcoRI allele frequencies of restriction fragment length polymorphisms(RFLP) and ^ variable number of tandem repeats(VNTR) of apoB were investigated using the polymerase chain reation(PCR) in 59 patients (zhuang: 17, han:42) with CHD, 45 patients (zhuang: 14, han: 31) with ACI and 95 healthyindividuals(zhuang:62, ban:33). Results: For Xbal polymorphic site, the frequency of the rare allele X* and XX genetype were higher in the CHD patients or in the ACI patients than in the controls, but no significant difference(P>0.05). It is not significant difference between the CHD patiens and controls or between the ACI patients and controls of guangxi hanzu. For the EcoRI site, the rare allele frequency of E" and E'E genetype is significantly higher in the patients with CHD or ACI than controls of guangxi hanzu. But it is not significant difference between the patients with CHD or ACI and the controls of guangxi zhuangzu. To 3/ VNTR, fifteen segregating alleles were observed in 199 subjects. In the patients with CHD or ACI of guangxi zhuangzu, the most allele was HVE34.The frequencies are 32.14% and 43. 48%. But in the control, it is HVE30. The frequency is 25.3% .It is not significant difference among the CHD, ACI and controls. To the guangxi hanzu , the most allele is HVE32 in the patients with CHD or ACI. But it is HVE34,HVE36, HVE38 in the controls. The relative frequency of big allele (=^HVE38) in controls is higher than in patients of two native populations, But they haven't significant difference between the zhuangzu controls and hanzu controls of guangxi in Xbal, EcoRI and 3XVNTR allele distribute frequency.
