Microstructural And Ultrastructural Observations On Embryonic Development Of "Luhebao" Litchi (Litchi Chinensis Sonn. Cv. Luhebao)

There are three types of litchi embryonic development: normal, abortive and partly abortive types. This research choose "luhebao" litchi (abortive type) as study material in comparison with "wuy" litchi(normal type), made some microstructural and ultrastructural observations on embryonic development of "Luhebao" litchi and "Wuy" litchi, the results are summarized as follows: 1.The embryogeny process of "Wuye" is completely normal, but that of "Luhebao" is abnormal. There are some embryos of "Luhebao"?are growing out of the embryo sac. 2.The development of inner integument of "Wuye" is normal, but that of "Luhebao" is abnormal. The inner integument of "Luhebao" had aborted from the early time of its embryonic development. Above two aspects might be the important causes of embryo abortion in Luhebao?litchi. 3.The development of arils of "Luhebao" and "Wuye"?indicates that Litchi's aril originates from the outer integument. There are interactions between the development of the embryo and the aril of Li tchi. 4.The starch accumulation attained two peaks through the embryonic development of "Wuye" one is at globular stage, the other is at heart shaped stage. Comparatively, there are no starch accumulation through the embryonic development of "Luhebao" which might relates with embryo abortion in "Luhebao" litchic...
