During the last a few decades, the application of data warehouse and OLAP( On-Line Analytical Processing) provided a better solution to the data explosion problem of the database field. Data warehouse , instead a ready-made product ava ilable, is a method. It take the traditional database technology as its basic wa y for data saving and resource manger; and it take the statistical analysis tech nology as its efficient way for data analysis and information retrieval; it take the artificial intelligence technology as the scientific way for knowledge mini ng and law discovery. OLAP is a swift information inquiry and analysis technolog y based on the data warehouse, it make the inquiry task finish quickly. WEBGIS i s a new technology which using the internet technology to expend and consummate the Geography Information System .Man can use it to find the geography spatial d ata ,picture and image they need, and also can use it to do some geographical sp atial analysis. During my research of the FuJian Climate Web Information System, I made a deep study on data warehouse , OLAP ,WEBGIS, and set out the composition of my t hesis on the building of climate web information system , In view of the actual application needs , I merged the technology of data warehouse and OLAP based on data warehouse and WEBGIS, put forth the technology way of building the web info rmation system in geography science. The FuJian Climate Web Information System is a computer information system for public for provide quick query to the climate information. The thesis throu gh the its building process ,elaborate the application of data warehouse and OLA P in geography science, it also have universal practical purpose for the other s imilar web information system involving magnanimity data.
