Afalania oleifera Clun et Lee, an evergreen broad- leaves woodplant endemic to china, have much original properties on dissection and relatively evolved characteristics. There are certain meanings to study the classification of o]eifera. Oil in the seeds can be acted as ideal raw materials of muscone. NOW Afalania oleifera is ranged as national second protection species. Because its poor natural regeneration ability, animals?distruction on fruits and human?s disturbance on forest, individuals of this species are fewer and fewer, especially seedlings and young trees ,and becoming endangered. This paper discusses the endangering causes of Ma]ania oleifera from the geographical distribution, the resources, the biological and ecological characteristics, and the effect of the environmental factors. The results show that: (l)The inherent biological characteristics of Afa]ania o]eifera are not suitable to its development. (2) It also makes the original limited seeds quantity reduce greatly because some animals prey on and endanger the fruits (3)Human?s activities not only decrease directly the quantity of Ma]ania o]eifem but also destroy its suitable environment to not benefit its growth and natural regener? ation . To effectively preserve the plant, this paper carries out a man梡lanting experiment by designing different soil types and measures to study seeds storation, germination, the height growing law of yearlings, root shape and the plant diseases and pests. In the end of this experiment, We determine individual biomass of every treatments , leaf area, chlorophyll content, root length, root volume, root vitality and the nutrient contents of soils and leaves0 Through the comparision, the results show: (1) The fruits should be gathered when they are mature enough but still on the tree. (2)The seeds are not suitable to tan and should be stored with the wet sands. Before the storat ion, the seeds should be selected and disinfected strictly, and the sands should be disinfected , too. (3)The seeds have no after ripening and need a suitable temperature and humidity to germinate. In a suitable condition of humidity, higher temperature is inclined to promote the seeds to germinate early. (4)The seeds should be cover with soil in order to gain a suitable humidity. When the seedlings just come out of the earth, it would be better for us to separate the cotyleden petiole form the cotyledon and pull out gently the plumular?axis and plumule from the shell. (5) Seedlings need a certain shade: Too intense sunlight is easy to lead them to die, too weak sunlight lead them to grow slowly. (6)The seedlings are inclined to catch the plant diseases and pests, especially root rot and G]offlere]]a cingu]ata. Ther? efore,we should take care of the seedlings. (7) It negates that Afa]ania o]eifera is easy to be infected with Afe]o? idogyne0 (8)The leaf forms are rather stable but leaf areas are not always absolutely correlative to the individual biomass. (9)The chlorophyll content in the shade place is higher than that of the spacious place, the chlorophyll 7 content in a good condition is higher than that of the poor, too. (10) The growth of Ma]ania oleifera doesn?t need too hi...
