Capillary discharge is one of reasonable approaches of small size soft X-ray laser. Because of its potential prospects in various fields, soft X-ray lasers have been developed by a lot of groups in the world. In this paper, the influence of experimental condition, such as prepulse current, prepulse-mainpulse delay time and initial Ar pressure, on Ne-like Ar 46.9nm laser output has been analysed. The electron temperature of preionized plasma has been measured. Discussion about the influence of preionized plasma state on laser output is presented. We introduced the electronic collision pumping mechanism of the capillary discharge soft X-ray laser and the formation of population inversion between Ne-like Ar 3p and 3s. The Z-pinch process has been simulated by utilizing the snow-plow model. According to the comparison between the results of simulation and the experimental results, influence of Z-pinch evolution on laser pulse duration is analysed. For the purpose of improvement of the stability of prepulse-mainpulse delay time and soft X-ray 46.9nm laser output, a new prepuse-mainpulse delay circuit is designed. In accordance with the advantages and disadvantages of the original, the new circuit is fabricated. By utilizing the new circuit, the reliability of delay circuit has been greatly improved. And the stability of capillary discharge Ne-like Ar 46.9 nm laser output is improved. With the improvement of the stability of prepulse-mainpulse delay time, experiments are conducted under different condition, such as prepulse current, prepulse-mainpulse delay time, mainpulse amplitude, initial Ar pressure. Through the analysis of experimental result, the condition of the most stable laser output is acquire. The electron temperature of preionized plasma has been measured by plasma spectroscopy diagnostics technology. According to the comparation between experimental result of laser output and the electron temperature of preionized plasma, the influence of the preionized plasma state on the stability of 46.9nm laser output has been analysed. In this paper, with the improvement of the stability of prepulse-mainpulse delay time and laser output, the influence of experimental conditions on laser output is studied. The experimental condition of the most stable laser output is acquired. Thepurpose of research is to enhance the stability of laser output energy in the capillarydischarge device. This is the necessary work to achieve wide application of capillarydischarge soft X-ray laser.
