Storm surge is a huge marine disaster. China faces the Pacific Ocean. China'slong coastline and numerous waters provide good natural conditions for its economicprosperity. But, these natural conditions also make China one of the countries whichare vulnerable to storm surge disaster in the world. Because of the favorable naturalconditions in coastal areas, social and economic development is fast, population andsociety is highly concentrated. If there will be a storm surge, the damage will beserious. It is a matter of great significance for human survival and development tostrengthen a greater research on the integrated physical mechanism, the developmentof storm surges and the method to forecast storm surges exactly.The difficulty in the research on storm surges is that the storm surge is a nonlinearphenomenon. By the coupling effect between the storm surge and theastronomical tide, it is more difficult to make an accurate solution to the storm surge.In this paper, the author made the approximate expression of the storm surge by usingthe parametric perturbation method, and got some useful conclusions. In addition, aparametric perturbation method was introduced in this paper. This method caneliminate the secular expansions. In order to explain the integrated physicalmechanism of the storm surge clearly, we put those various factors that affect thestorm surge in order of importance. Without affecting the essence, we simplified thesystem of equations. Then,we got the approximate expressions of the water level andthe speed of the flow field by using the parametric perturbation method. On the basisof the approximate expressions, we analyzed the coupling effect and various physicalparameters affecting the storm surge. The approximate expressions in this paper aresimple and accurate. And the conclusions in this paper are consistent with the couplingeffect between the storm surge and the astronomical tide. Those results can providereferences to test the results of numerical simulation results, and they are contributionsto the research on the storm surge.
