Research On The Method Of Establishing Map Symbol Library Based On ArcGIS And Realizing Of Dynamic Symbolization

This paper which was relying on the project of the survey about land and resources of China and was based on a large number of true and reliable basic data and thematic data about ground fissures and land subsidence disaster, explored how to use the technology of mapping with modern computer and the technology of GIS application, to effectively manage and normally express. This article aimed to establish the map symbol library and realized of dynamic symbolization to meet the demand of emergency response and development application faster and better, basing on the platform of ArcGIS, which is an international mainstream software about GIS.With the rapid development of GIS technology and its applications in development, GIS system map symbol aspects of the problem becomes increasingly salient, need to be solved urgently. So establishing map symbol library based on GIS software platform and making a dynamic symbol module for GIS applications system, becomes an important research direction. ArcGIS is the most powerful GIS software of the world, which has a powerful symbol library management system and secondary development function. This paper, with the need of project Research on Monitoring and Prevention of Geofractures and Land Subsidence in Basin of Fenhe and Weihe River, is based on following ArcGIS symbols, symbol library management, symbolic way of thinking. It made the map symbol in line with our country standard and built the map symbol library with unified code. The design is based on the symbolization function module of the components, with which to achieve the dynamic symbolization. Specific studies include the following:1. Design and edit map symbol:According to the basic scale maps specification, based on FontCreator font editor and mapping software AutoCAD 2006, making topographic map legend point symbols and the geological symbols of system database frequently-used.2. Establish map symbol library:Established the symbol library system with a unified code in ArcMap's Style Manager, to which added the different scale for the symbol of our country to ensure that the symbols output is exactly the same with national map symbols.3. Design and realize of dynamic symbol:Use the symbolic components ArcGIS Engine providing to design symbolic function module and achieve dynamic symbolic of the layer data.
