Facing abundant resources, people's understanding of the oceans has greatly leaped. Therefore, it is high time to grow the importance of deep sea exploration. Compared with sampling and analysis, real-time, continuous detection of deep-sea research undoubtedly has more advantages. The research of underwater spectral detection system made tremendous progress and continuous rapid develop in this trend.The Ocean Optics QE65000 Spectrometer is a novel combination of detector, optical bench and electronics technologies that provide you with a remarkably sensitive system for demanding, low-light level applications such as fluorescence, DNA sequencing and Raman spectroscopy. As the Ocean Optics offers SpectraSuite software used for spectral measurement, in general applications, the spectrum of measurement can be completed via USB. User also can develop control software with manufacture-supplied development kit. In addition to USB interfaces, QE65000 also provides the compound 30-pin serial port, including the RS-232 serial connection. ALL function of QE65000 can be done via it. Although the USB connection provides a complete solutions of spectral measurements to meet the needs of ordinary users, but the demand of host computer will be much higher. Accordingly, size and power consumption of the entire spectrum measurement system will be greater impact. Because RS-232 interface can work without PC-platform, QE65000 even can be used as a control center in small detection system. It can be widely used in areas of great importance to the volume and power consumption.This article describes development of QE65000 control platform and function extension. It introduces spectroscopy's principle and development. This article analyses the structure of QE65000 and the small-scale situ Laser-Raman spectrum detection system. For the need of the RS-232 communication, J2 Accessory Connector is remodeled into RS-232 Connector. On this basis, CSerialPort is chose as the final method from several possible options. Low pressure mercury lamp used as a probe light source, successfully collected a number of spectral data set. Through comparing with the spectral data set collected via USB, QE65000 is proved to collect spectra via RS-232.As the current control system developed by PC, the program can be transferred to SCM, it is useful to explore to reduce size and power consumption.
