In recent years,under strong policy support and guidance,the characteristic agricultural industry of China has achieved steady development.In addition to the continuous improvement of the number and scale of firms,the driving effect of development has also become more and more obvious,becoming the core carrier of promoting agricultural industrialization.As a typical representative of the development of agricultural industry with rural characteristics,coarse cereals firms rely on local resource endowment and regional advantages to develop the coarse cereals industry with local characteristics through the extension of industrial chain,thus playing an important role in promoting the integration of primary,secondary and tertiary industries and driving local economic growth.However,unlike other agricultural firms,coarse cereals firms due to the restriction of the coarse cereals growth condition and distribution characteristics,such as agricultural firms mainly distributed in less developed areas of relatively poor natural conditions,the growth and development will be subject to less developed areas are weak economic conditions and agricultural quality dual unfavorable factors,resulting in firm facing severe resource constraints.As an informal system,the entrepreneurs’ relationship network makes it possible for coarse cereals firms to expand their resource access channels,so it is expected to be an important means to solve their predicament.Yet,while network help coarse cereals firms access to external resources,but it is not enough to have resources,must through the resource integration and utilization of cultivating and building firm internal capability at the same time,to make it a competitive advantage and good performance,the entrepreneurs’ relationship network and internal capability constitutes the key influencing factors of coarse cereals firm’s performance.Therefore,based on the analysis of the mechanism of the performance of coarse cereals firms from the perspectives of entrepreneurs’ relationship network and internal capabilities,it is not only crucial to the growth and development of coarse cereals firms,but also has important theoretical significance and reference value in driving the high-quality development of the coarse cereals industry and the economic development of the underdeveloped regions where coarse cereals firms are located.Dual Angle of view in this paper,based on the relationship between network and internal capability,according to the resource base theory,social network theory,the relationship between view,firm capability theory and firm growth theory multidimensional theory system,the guidance of the review systematically on the basis of related literature at home and abroad,build relationship network and internal capability perspective contained the theoretical framework of firm performance;Based on the microscopic survey data of 314 coarse cereals firms and case interviews of typical firms in 8 provinces in less developed areas,the present situation and influencing factors of firm performance were analyzed in detail,and the characterization index system of entrepreneurs’ relationship network and internal capabilities and their subdivision dimensions was constructed.Furthermore,hierarchical regression model and mediating effect model were used to explore the influence mechanism of two key factors,entrepreneurs’ relationship network and internal capability,on financial performance and growth performance of coarse cereals firms,and combined with empirical conclusions,countermeasures and suggestions were put forward to improve the performance of coarse cereals firms.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)According to the survey data of firms,the financial performance and growth performance of coarse cereals firms are not hingh,and there are differences among different regions.Among them,the overall performance of coarse cereals firms in Yanshan-Taihang mountain area and Luliang mountain area is significantly higher than that in other regions.Overall,coarse cereals firms are still in the initial stage of industrial development,and there is room for further improvement in firm performance.In terms of the relationship network level of coarse cereals firms,the overall level is above the medium level,and the business relationship is significantly greater than the political relationship,and there are obvious regional differences in the relationship network level.In terms of internal capabilities,the marketing capabilities and financing capabilities in the dimensions are both greater than the innovation capabilities,and there are significant regional differences in the internal capabilities of firms.(2)Based on the perspective of relationship network,hierarchical regression method is used to study the impact of entrepreneurs’ relationship network on the performance of coarse cereals firms.The research findings are as follows: The entrepreneurs’ relationship network has a significant promoting effect on the performance of coarse cereals firms,and the business relationship and political relationship have a significant positive impact on the financial performance and growth performance,that is,the business relationship and political relationship can obtain market resources and policy resources for the coarse cereals firms,and then promote the improvement of firm performance.In terms of firm development stage,the effect of political relationship on firm performance is significantly greater than that of business relationship in the initial stage,while the effect of business relationship on firm performance is significantly greater than that of political relationship in the growth stage.In addition,from the perspective of influence trend,the influence of business relationship on firm performance is gradually increasing,while the influence of political relationship on firm performance is gradually weakening.In terms of industry categories,in the group of processing firms,both business relations and political relations have a significant promoting effect on the performance of coarse cereals firms,while in the group of circulation firms,only business relations have a significant positive effect.In terms of regional differences,the entrepreneurs’ relationship network has the greatest impact on the performance of coarse cereals firms in Yanshan-Taihang Mountains and Luliang.(3)From the perspective of internal capability,hierarchical regression and mediating effect test are used to study the influence of internal competence on firm performance in coarse cereals firms.The research findings are as follows: Internal capability to different dimensions of performance exists obvious difference,the influence of the marketing capability and financing capability of coarse cereals firm financial performance and growth performance has a positive role in promoting,and innovation capability of financial performance and growth performance were not significant,the influence of the coarse cereals firms through marketing capability and the capability of the financing,and then implements the firm performance increase.Further analysis shows that there is a certain sense of hierarchy in the composition dimension of internal capabilities.Among them,financing capabilities not only play a direct role on the performance of coarse cereals firms,but also indirectly affect the performance through marketing capabilities,that is,marketing capabilities have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between financing capabilities and firm performance.From the point of view of the development stage of the firm,only the marketing capability has a significant promoting effect on the performance of the coarse cereals firm in the initial stage,and both the marketing capability and financing capability have a significant promoting effect on the performance of the firm in the growth stage.In terms of industry categories,marketing capability and financing capability were significantly positively correlated with the performance of coarse cereals firms in the processing firm group.In the group of circulation firms,only marketing capability has a significant positive relationship with firm performance.From the perspective of regional differences,the internal capabilities of coarse cereals firms in Yanshan-Taihang Mountain area have the greatest impact on financial performance and growth performance.(4)Based on the common perspective of relationship network and internal capability,the mediation effect model is adopted to empirically analyze the mechanism of the influence of entrepreneurs’ relationship network on the performance of coarse cereals firms through internal capability.The research findings are as follows: Among the three dimensions of internal capability,marketing capability and financing capability not only play an intermediary role between business relationship and financial performance,business relationship and growth performance,but also play an intermediary role between political relationship and financial performance,political relationship and growth performance,while the intermediary effect of innovation capability does not exist.This also means that business and political relations not only indirectly promote the performance improvement of coarse cereals firms through marketing capability,but also promote the performance of coarse cereals firms through financing capability.(5)Based on the analysis of typical cases,this paper verifies the process logic of entrepreneurs’ relationship network transformed into firm performance through internal capability.It is found that the presentation in each dimension of entrepreneurs’ relationship network and internal capability is obviously consistent with the performance of coarse cereals firms,and the three dimensions of internal capability can achieve coordination and maintain the competitive advantage,so as to promote the development of coarse cereals firms.On the whole,the innovation of this paper lies in the analysis of the influence of entrepreneurs’ relationship network on the performance of coarse cereals firms from the different development stages and industry categories of firms,and clarifies the divergence of conclusion between relationship network and performance research to a certain extent.At the same time,from the aspect of function mechanism,this paper analyzes the influence of entrepreneurs’ relationship network on the performance of coarse cereals firms through internal capability,and extends the theory of social network and enterprise competence in a deeper way to enrich the relevant research on the growth of agricultural enterprises.In terms of practical enlightenment,this paper puts forward corresponding policy suggestions from constructing entrepreneurs’ relationship network,dynamically adjusting relationship network,enterprise internal capability training,matching external relationship and internal capability,and actively building platform for the government,in order to provide theoretical support and practical basis for the rapid growth of Chinese coarse cereals firms and promote the high quality development of local coarse cereals industry.
