Technological innovation diffusion is the key to the high-quality development of regional economy.It is influenced by multi-dimensional proximity,including cognitive technology,geographical relationship and social proximity.From the perspective of proximity,this paper sorts out and analyzes the influence of multi-dimensional proximity,such as geography,cognition,society,relationship,and technology,on the diffusion of technological innovation.The functions of multi-dimensional proximity in the process of technological innovation diffusion are different,in which cognitive and technological proximity determine whether diffusion can occur,which is defined as the diffusion “switch”,and geographic,relational,and social proximity determine the strength of diffusion,which is defined as the diffusion "medium".This theoretically leads to a clearer understanding of the diffusion mechanism of technological innovation and its efficiency improvement.This paper takes the Yangtze River Delta region as a case study,collects tens of millions of patent data in the Yangtze River Delta region from 1985 to 2020,and uses the "citation model" to analyze and test the effects of geography,cognition,society,relationship and technological proximity on the diffusion of technological innovation in the Yangtze River Delta region.Furthermore,based on the conclusions of the model,policy suggestions are put forward for the practice of promoting the diffusion of technological innovation in the Yangtze River Delta region.With the deepening of the knowledge economy and the new round of scientific and technological revolution,and the development of economic globalization has entered a new stage,the dependence of high-quality economic development on technological innovation has become more and more obvious.Regional development and competition have gradually evolved from economy,culture and livable environment to the development and competition of technological innovation as the core.However,the theory and practice of regional integration and integration are still largely in the stage of enhancing geospatial connections by means of transportation improvement and other hardware means.With the continuous development and deepening of the region,represented by the introduction of market integration documents and the practice of the Yangtze River Delta Integration Demonstration Zone,the promotion of integration from multi-dimensions such as institutions has become the main theme of the new development stage.Technological innovations that are part of a region also need to expand from improving geographical proximity to improving multidimensional proximity.Multi-dimensional proximity has different functions in the process of technological innovation diffusion.Cognitive proximity and technological proximity play a "switch" function,which determines whether technological innovation diffusion can occur.Geographical,relational and social proximity play a "medium" function,which provides an intermediary for technological innovation diffusion.The proximity of "switch" and "medium" together constitute the channel of technological innovation diffusion to ensure the smooth diffusion of technological innovation.The proximity of "switch" and "medium" together determine whether technological innovation can complete the diffusion.According to the research of Chinese and foreign scholars,this paper starts from the potential recipients of technological innovation diffusion,combines the functions of multi-dimensional proximity in the process of technological innovation diffusion,and expands the technological innovation citation model.Based on the data of more than 11 million patents in 41 prefecture-level cities in the Yangtze River Delta from1985 to 2020,this paper analyzes the influence of multi-dimensional proximity on the number,possibility and lag of technological innovation diffusion and how urban potential energy affects the diffusion of technological innovation through multidimensional proximity channels.Through the citation chain,his paper analyzes the scale and depth of technological innovation diffusion in Yangtze River Delta region,and according to the "core-periphery" theory,this paper analyzes the evolution of the spatial structure of technological innovation diffusion and cooperation in the Yangtze River Delta region.This paper finds that the influence of social proximity on the number and possibility of technological innovation diffusion shows an oblique upward trend,and its influence on the lag of technological innovation diffusion shows an oblique downward trend.The influence of other proximities on the number and possibility of technological innovation diffusion shows an inverted U-shaped,and the influence on the lag of technological innovation diffusion is positive U-shaped.The influence of various channels on the lag of technological innovation diffusion is positive U-shaped.The diffusion of technological innovation between larger scale cities and higher innovation level cities is more and faster,and larger cities and higher innovation capacity cities receive more technological innovation diffusion,and the speed is faster.Most technological innovations spread faster in cognitive proximity side channels,and also in the interaction side channels between cognitive and technological proximity.From 2000 to 2020,the scale and depth of technological innovation diffusion in the Yangtze River Delta region continued to expand.The diffusion(including quantity,possibility and speed)and the cooperation of technological innovation in the Yangtze River Delta region continued to increase,the scale of diffusion and cooperation continued to expand,and the coverage of technological innovation networks expanded,but the diffusion of technological innovation in the Yangtze River Delta region mainly occurred within cities.In terms of the diffusion and cooperation of technological innovation in the Yangtze River Delta region,a spatial pattern of "core-sub-core-edge" has been gradually formed,with Shanghai and Nanjing as the core,Hangzhou,Suzhou,Wuxi,Changzhou and Hefei as the sub-core,Chizhou and other cities as the edge.Cities in the Yangtze River Delta have adopted various measures to enhance multidimensional proximity and actively shorten the "multi-dimensional distance" between cities,so as to facilitate the diffusion of technological innovation.Cities in the Yangtze River Delta will enhance regional technological innovation capability and shorten the "cognitive distance" between cities through technological innovation cooperation,coordination,transfer and active docking with central cities;Through the development of "enclave" economy,joint construction of industrial parks,linkage of pilot free trade zones,active integration into metropolitan areas and ecological and green integration demonstration area,we can improve industrial cooperation and coordinated development among cities and reduce the "technological distance" among cities;by improving the construction of transportation facilities among cities,building a comprehensive transportation network and improving the level of modern transportation services,cities continue to shorten the distance,reduce the diffusion cost of technological innovation and improve the possibility of "co-location";optimize the cooperation and transfer of technological innovation among cities and enhance the links between cities by building cooperation platforms,jointly building parks and building industrial transfer undertaking platforms;improve the mechanism connection with central cities,improve the institutional mechanisms such as pilot free trade zones,comprehensive bonded zones and metropolitan areas,strengthen the mechanism connection in key areas such as green,ecology,environmental protection and intellectual property rights,enhance the interaction and mutual trust between cities,reduce the barriers to the diffusion of technological innovation,and promote the innovation of regional integration mechanism.
