The rapidly changing business environment,technological innovation,and diverse distribution of business scenarios have led to unprecedented time pressures on modern organizations and teams.Teams face increasingly complex tasks in a limited amount of time,represented by multiple tasks interacting and requiring rapid responses.The effectiveness of the team will play a more and more important role in the survival and long-term development of the organization.Temporal team mental model as a form of team cognition,refers to team members’ consistent understanding and representation of time aspects in the task process.In the process of team operation,temporal team mental model as implicit coordination will directly affect the effectiveness of team work.Therefore,it is an urgent problem to be solved in theory and practice how to effectively improve the cognitive level of temporal team mental model,and then promote the effectiveness of team.This study focuses on the core issue of "the impact mechanism of temporal team mental model on team effectiveness",on the basis of social information processing theory,combined with the theory of team process point of view,and at the same time analysis the temporal team mental model of team effectiveness,the influence mechanism and the role of boundary conditions,including three sub-studies:In the first sub-study,aiming at the time conflict faced by modern teams and the unclear internal relationship between it and team effectiveness,first of all,the interview outline was designed by referring to the existing research results on team time coordination.On this basis,28 employees from 10 teams were deeply interviewed.Secondly,data analysis and category extraction are carried out based on the three-level coding process(open coding,spindle coding and selective coding)of grounded theory,and a relational model is built and saturation test is carried out.Finally,according to the theory of information processing,this paper analyzes the two ways of temporal team mental model acting on team effectiveness,and explains the theoretical model.Based on grounded theory,it is found that temporal team mental model affects team effectiveness through two paths,one is information convergence process based on behavioral integration,the other is information divergence process based on team learning.The relationship model constructed by the book study provides theoretical support for subsequent empirical research.In study 2,in view of the qualitative research to build the relationship model is based on the qualitative analysis of interviews for text data,based on the results of this section in qualitative research,based on the information convergence Angle of view,for the knowledge team director,further to test the effectiveness of the temporal team mental models to the team of direct and indirect effect.The results show that,temporal team mental model(three dimensions)will positively affect team effectiveness,and temporal team mental model have a certain but insignificant direct effect on team effectiveness.Behavioral integration plays a mediating role between temporal team mental model(three dimensions)and team effectiveness.Task complexity moderates the relationship between behavioral integration and team effectiveness,and task complexity will mediate behavior integration.In the third study,based on the information on divergent paths,on the basis of qualitative research results,combining with the existing research and related theory expounded the relationship between the relevant variables,and for the knowledge team director,further inspection team mental models through team learning time have an indirect effect on team effectiveness,and the regulating effect in the test type inclusive atmosphere in the process.The results show that team learning mediates the relationship between temporal team mental model and team effectiveness.Inclusive atmosphere moderates the relationship between team task time,team norm time and team learning,and inclusive atmosphere moderates the mediating effect of team learning,but inclusive atmosphere has no significant moderating effect on the relationship between team member characteristic time and team learning.The above three sub-studies combined phenomenon analysis,theoretical analysis and empirical test,and investigated the influence mechanism of temporal team mental model on team effectiveness by combining quantitative and qualitative methods.Some innovations and contributions were made: First of all,this paper introduces "social time" from the perspective of sociology and philosophy into the field of organization and management,which is helpful to introduce a new time coordinate system in management research and provide a new research perspective for the study of team time and team effectiveness.Secondly,through the qualitative research method of grounded theory explore temporal team mental model impact on team effectiveness of the double path model,and constructed the "team mental model time-behavior integration/group learning-team effectiveness" of the relational model,to explore the relationship between provided based on the perspective of information processing.Thirdly,from the perspective of information convergence and information divergence,we examine the influence of temporal team mental model on team effectiveness.The research conclusion not only expands the research on antecedent variables of behavioral integration and team learning,but also deepens the related research on the influence mechanism of temporal team mental model on behavioral integration and team learning.The results provide theoretical inspiration for the temporal team mental model and the intervention of team effectiveness.
