An Empirical Study On The Impact Of Economic Agglomeration On Collaborative Innovation Ability Of Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration

Driven by both policy guidance and practical needs,urban agglomeration,as an advanced product of the country’s new urbanization and industrialization,has gradually become an important trend of regional development in the future.With the concentration trend of economic activities in space,regional innovation activities also show the characteristics of agglomeration development in space.Innovation is the internal driving force leading the high-quality development of regional economy.The development of technological innovation ability of a single city in the urban agglomeration may not be able to effectively meet the needs of economic development,while collaborative innovation of urban agglomeration can realize collaborative integration and promote the complementarity of advantages of cities by promoting the flow of innovative resources such as knowledge among cities,so as to stimulate the emergence of more innovative achievements,Promote regional coordinated development.In the report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the two major goals of regional coordinated development and building innovation are regarded as China’s national strategies in the future.Therefore,accelerating the collaborative innovation on the spatial scale of urban agglomeration has become a key measure to fully implement the innovation driven development strategy,realize regional coordinated development and build a world-class urban agglomeration in the new era.The region with the most active economic and innovation activities in China is the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.As an important pioneer of high-quality and integrated development of regional economy,the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration has the most vigorous economic vitality,strong innovation ability and high-level opening-up structure.In view of this,this leads to the following questions: what is the current situation of collaborative innovation ability of urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta? Does economic agglomeration have an impact on regional collaborative innovation capability? Is there a spatial spillover effect between economic agglomeration and regional collaborative innovation? What is the impact mechanism ofeconomic agglomeration on regional collaborative innovation capability? These problems need to be explained from the theoretical and empirical levels.Under the background of the continuous spatial agglomeration of China’s economic activities and the implementation of innovation driven strategy,the study of the action mechanism of economic agglomeration on regional collaborative innovation ability is of great significance to improve the collaborative innovation ability of urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta,optimize the collaborative innovation network structure,improve the allocation efficiency of innovation resources,and promote the dual collaborative development of economic development and regional collaborative innovation.Based on the existing research,this study constructs a theoretical analysis framework from the formation mechanism of collaborative innovation,the constituent elements and operation mechanism of collaborative innovation system,the direct impact of economic agglomeration on regional collaborative innovation capability,spatial spillover effect and networking,and discusses the impact of economic agglomeration on the collaborative innovation capability of urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta.Based on the data of 41 prefecture level cities in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration from 2010 to 2019,this thesis uses the exploratory space method to analyze the current situation of collaborative innovation ability and economic agglomeration of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.Based on the characteristics and facts of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration,this thesis comprehensively uses the double fixed effect model,spatial Dubin model,dynamic spatial panel Dubin model and social network analysis method to carry out empirical analysis,Considering the impact of economic agglomeration heterogeneity,endogenous problems,missing variables and simultaneous errors on the empirical results,this study uses the instrumental variable method,system generalized moment estimation method and simultaneous equation method to test the robustness of the regression results.Finally,based on the results of theoretical research and empirical research,this thesis puts forward corresponding policy suggestions.The results show that:(1)in terms of the collaborative innovation ability of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration,with the help of the extended DEA method,this study comprehensively considers the input and output in the collaborative innovation system,evaluates the collaborative innovation ability of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration,brings the collaborative innovation input and innovation output of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration into the DEA model,and obtains the collaborative innovation ability of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.The results show that the collaborative innovation capability of the Yangtze River Delta shows an increasing trend,and its collaborative innovation capability has increased from 0.6343 in 2010 to 0.8420,with an average collaborative innovation capability of 0.7892.Among them,the collaborative innovation ability of Shanghai is much higher than that of other regions in the Yangtze River Delta,and the region with the lowest collaborative innovation ability is Anhui Province,followed by Zhejiang Province and Jiangsu Province respectively.(2)Economic agglomeration plays a significant role in promoting the collaborative innovation ability of urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta.There are significant differences in the impact of different forms of economic agglomeration on the collaborative innovation ability of urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta.From the perspective of factor agglomeration,the agglomeration of capital factors,talent factors and knowledge factors is conducive to promoting the development of collaborative innovation ability;Third,from the perspective of industrial agglomeration and synergy,it has a significant positive impact on industrial agglomeration.From the perspective of industrial collaborative agglomeration,industrial collaborative agglomeration is conducive to induce industrial integration and technological exchange and cooperation,and promote the development of collaborative innovation ability.The promotion effect of cross industry collaborative agglomeration on regional collaborative innovation capability is greater than that of industrial agglomeration within the same industrial sector.(3)The impact of economic agglomeration on the collaborative innovation ability of urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta has a significant spatial spillover effect.The spatial static Dobbin model shows that the economic agglomeration of adjacent areas can promote the improvement of collaborative innovation ability of the region.The results of spatial dynamic Dobbin model show that the improvement of collaborative innovation capability of surrounding regions is conducive to promoting the development of collaborative innovation capability in this region,and the development of collaborative innovation capability has an obvious "snowball" effect,that is,the current collaborative innovation capability of this region shows a significant positive correlation with the collaborative innovation capability of previous years.Industrial agglomeration and industrial collaborative agglomeration have significant spatial spillover effect on regional collaborative innovation ability,and the spatial spillover effect of industrial collaborative agglomeration is much greater than that of single industrial agglomeration.(4)Economic agglomeration significantly promotes the point out centrality,network concentration and network asymmetry of collaborative innovation network structure.The research shows that the concentration of economic activities in the spatial scope is conducive to the increase of the tightness of regional innovation relations.With the continuous enrichment ofurban innovation cooperation ways,the collaborative innovation cooperation relations are constantly stable.Industrial agglomeration and Industrial Synergy gathering have a significant impact on the structural characteristics of collaborative innovation network.Compared with the secondary industry agglomeration,the knowledge spillover effect and flow effect brought by the tertiary industry agglomeration are more obvious.The theoretical and empirical research results of this study have important policy implications for the development of collaborative innovation ability of urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta,the double synergy of economic development and regional innovation,the construction of regional innovation system and the construction of innovation community.Therefore,this study puts forward the following countermeasures and suggestions:(1)improve the factor agglomeration environment,improve the level of regional economic agglomeration,and give full play to the role of economic agglomeration in promoting the development of regional collaborative innovation ability.(2)Reasonably guide industrial agglomeration,optimize the pattern and spatial distribution of industrial agglomeration,and pay attention to the interactive and integrated development of industrial agglomeration and regional collaborative innovation ability.(3)Strengthen regional cooperation,share the spillover effect of space,and promote the benign development of collaborative innovation network while building an efficient,open and integrated industrial development network.(4)Build a practical knowledge spillover compensation mechanism and create the concept of collaborative innovation community.Coordinate the collaborative innovation resources of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration,promote regional equitable development,boost the innovation level of marginal cities,strengthen regional economic relevance and integrated development,and promote the balanced development of regional collaborative innovation capacity.(5)Pay attention to the reverse causal relationship between economic agglomeration and regional collaborative innovation ability,as well as the agglomeration economic effect of industrial agglomeration.Through the overall thinking to build the collaborative innovation system of urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta,and establish a dual collaborative mechanism of regional economic development and regional innovation ability development.
