Online public opinion work is not only related to the security of online ideology but also to the modernization of online social governance.It is crucial for the future of the party and the nation.Since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the Central Committee of the Party has viewed online public opinion work as a significant matter in governing the country,and ensuring national security,and has placed it in a strategic position in the overall work of the Party.It emphasizes the need to clearly define the boundaries,characteristics,and evolution of the online public opinion discourse,firmly grasp the initiative and dominance in this discourse,and continuously strengthen and expand mainstream ideological public opinion.The governance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities,at the forefront of online public opinion work,has entered a new development stage,requiring it to proactively respond to the new expectations of the Party and the people,the evolving trends in internet technology,and the changing landscape of online public opinion.Therefore,only by gaining control over the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities can we calmly address the various contradictions,risks,and conflicts emerging in the development of the online society,effectively safeguarding the normal development of the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities.The online public opinion field in universities is a new type of public opinion arena that has emerged from traditional ones.It has not only eliminated structural and functional obstacles in the opinion dissemination system but also showcased a strong aggregation effect of public opinion energy.Since its inception,the construction of the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities has been consistent with the development of the online society and closely follows the various strategic deployments made by the Central Committee.It has propelled the practice of the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities to continually evolve in response to changing circumstances.While the academic fervor surrounding this issue is rising,the concept and practice of dominance in this field are becoming increasingly evident.Facing a new era,new journey,and new mission,the construction of the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities still faces challenges such as insufficient integration with cutting-edge technology,asynchronous development with the online public opinion landscape,and a mismatch with the psychological expectations of university student netizens.Moreover,the related theoretical research on the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities needs to shift its perspective.This requires a progressive transition in the research paradigm from "point to line to surface" and the exploration of new theoretical growth points through the convergence of comprehensive and refined research perspectives.In this context,the research on the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities carries the important mission of addressing contemporary issues,advancing theoretical development,and promoting practical reforms.This study places the issue of the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities within the scope of ideological and political education as well as the framework of modernized online social governance.It analyzes the theoretical connotations and practical logic of the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities and explores the challenges and development paths faced in its implementation under new technological conditions and a new public opinion ecosystem.Overall,the paper unfolds along a logical path that questions "Why dominance is achievable" → "How dominance is understood" → "How dominance is generated" → "How dominance is effectively realized" → "How dominance can be enhanced." Additionally,it incorporates theoretical insights from Western theories concerning communication effectiveness,gatekeepers,power dynamics,social domains,and the ideology of science and technology(five key theories).This comprehensive analysis framework has been established,offering the theoretical groundwork and ideological guidance for the research of the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities.Part Two(Chapters 3&4)unfolds around the central question of "How to understand the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities." In terms of content and characteristics,it delineates the essential nature and multifaceted aspects of the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities.This is achieved through the differentiation and definition of core concepts such as dominance,universities’ online public opinion,and universities’ online public opinion field,as well as related concepts.From a structural and functional perspective,it views the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities as an organic system existing and operating through the interaction of elements such as subjects,objects,content,intermediaries,and the environment in ways that are shaped by real-world combinations.This system serves various functions,including guidance,critique,aggregation,regulation,and education.Part Three(Chapter 5)unfolds around the crucial question of "How dominance is generated in the online public opinion field in colleges and universities." Grounded in the historical context of the new era and new journey,and following the intrinsic logic of problem-solving and countermeasures,this study explores the pathways to enhance the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities.In terms of strategic direction,the enhancement of dominance should be guided by a vision that includes nurturing a new generation for the times,enhancing the effectiveness of propaganda and ideological work in colleges and universities,and consolidating and strengthening mainstream ideological public opinion.It should be guided by the principles of precise intervention,open sharing,efficient collaboration,and pragmatic effectiveness,we follow the guiding principle of combining dominance with diversity,balancing stages with systematization,and unifying values with practical utility.In terms of concrete strategies,efforts should focus on areas such as the development of subjects,the advancement of objects,the fusion of carriers,innovation in methods,and coordinated engagement across domains,thus achieving overall enhancement in the dominance of the online public opinion field in colleges and universities.
