The transfer and commercialization of university technology and knowledge has gradually become the third task of universities besides teaching and research, which is also called academic entrepreneurship.Teachers and scholars as the main scientific research force in universities have gradually become the main force of academic entrepreneurship.Although different studies have begun to pay attention to this entrepreneurial group, there are still some issues that have received less attention, such as the problem of the identity construction of scholars in the process of achieving their entrepreneurial performance, and how academic entrepreneurs choose entrepreneurship decision logic and how to integrate resources according to different decision logics to achieve its final entrepreneurial performance and other issues. In view of the above problems, this article is based on theories of social identity theory, causation and effectuation theory, taking academic entrepreneurs as the main body of research, using grounded theory and empirical methods to construct the academic entrepreneurship performance research model based on identification and decision logic framework. The main research contents of this study are as follows:Firstly, based on the grounded theory method, code multiple cases and entrepreneurial stories of academic entrepreneurs, and continue to classify and refine on this basis, and summarize the main links and main concepts and key variables in the entrepreneurial process of academic entrepreneurs.Construct the logical relationship between each concept and variable, thus construct a process model for academic entrepreneurs to achieve their entrepreneurial performance from the perspective of identity and decision logic.Secondly, based on the social identity theory and identity theory, the paper adopts the empirical research method, taking the multiple identities and role conflicts of academic entrepreneurs as independent variables, role orientation as moderating variables, and entrepreneurial identification as dependent variables. The empirical results show that: multiple identities of academic entrepreneurs can help entrepreneurs to the formation of entrepreneurial identification, role conflict is bad for the formation of entrepreneurial identification, role orientation plays different moderating role among multiple identities, role conflict and entrepreneurial identification.Thirdly, based on social identity theory, causation and effectuation theory, this paper studies the influence of academic entrepreneurs’ two identification on the logical choice of causation and effectuation.Based on the previous part of the study, with scholar’s identification and entrepreneurial identification as independent variables, with causation and the four sub-dimensions of effectuation logic(experimentation, affordable loss, flexibility, and pre-commitment)as dependent variables. The empirical test results show that the scholar’s identification has no significant influence on the choice of causation and effectuation logic, while the entrepreneurial identification has a positive influence on the choice of causation and effectuation logic. The research results also further indicate the importance of the formation of an entrepreneurial identification.Fourthly, based on the causation and effectuation theory, and the concept of role innovation, this paper analyzes the influence of causation and effectuation logic, and role innovation behavior on academic entrepreneurship performance.By using causation, the four dimensions of effectuation logic and role innovation as independent variables, and taking academic entrepreneurship performance as the dependent variable. The results show that the causation logic has a positive impact on academic entrepreneurship performance. The four dimensions of effectuation logic have different influences on the achievement of academic entrepreneurship performance.Role innovation has a positive effect on academic entrepreneurship performance. At the same time, the interaction effect between experimentation logic and role innovation on academic entrepreneurship performance was not significant, the interaction effect between both affordable loss,pre-commitment logic and role innnovation on entrepreneurship performance was positive significantly. However, the interaction between flexibility logic and role innovation has a negative effect on academic entrepreneurship performance. Finally, this study summarizes the academic entrepreneurship performance research, based on the above causality tests, the structural equation model is used to test the whole process model of academic entrepreneurship performance. At the same time, the mediating mechanism between entrepreneurial identification-causation and effectuation logic-academic entrepreneurship performance is analyzed and verified. It is found that the test results of the whole model are basically consistent with the results of the previous study, which indicates the validity of this study and the robustness of the results.Meanwhile, the mediating effect test results found that the different dimensions of causation and effectuation logic play different mediating roles between entrepreneurial identification and academic entrepreneurship performance. This study constructs a research model of academic entrepreneurship performance based on the perspective of identity and decision logic, confirms the importance of entrepreneurial identification, establishes the connection between identification and decision logic, and verifies the relationship between decision logic and entrepreneurial performance, which has important theoretical and practical significance.Theoretically speaking, firstly, the empirical research on the individual level of academic entrepreneurship is enriched by using a variety of research methods.Secondly, this study integrates two frequently used but rarely integrated identity theory and social identity theory to analyze the formation process of entrepreneurial identification and enrich the application analysis of the two theories.Thirdly, this study constructs the connection between social identity theory and causation and effectuation logic, which enriches the research on the relationship between identity and decision logic. Finally, this study applies causation, effectuation logic, and role innovation to academic entrepreneurship performance research, which not only enriches academic entrepreneurship performance research but also expands the application scope of causation, effectuation theory, and role innovation behavior in academic entrepreneurship research. In addition, this study focuses on academic entrepreneur individual Angle of analysis and help to encourage more scholars to participate in the activities of a business, and on the positive use of multiple identities, timely resolution of role conflict, the adjusting role positioning, carries on the role of innovation, actively use causal and effect logic point of view for the academic entrepreneur provides Suggestions to achieve its business goals. In addition, the analysis of this study also helps to encourage more scholars to participate in entrepreneurial activities, and provides suggestions for academic entrepreneurs to achieve their entrepreneurial goals from the perspectives of actively utilizing their multiple identities, timely resolving role conflicts, adjusting role positioning, carrying out role innovation, and utilizing causation and effectuation logic. At the same time, the individual-level research also provides a reference for policies and organizations to encourage scholars to participate in entrepreneurship and create a favorable entrepreneurial environment.
