| Material civilization and spiritual civilization are two manifestations of human civilization development.How to promote the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization has always been a practical problem that people are concerned about and need to solve.The report of the 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that "Chinese-style Modernization is a modernization in which material civilization and spiritual civilization are coordinated",which is not only the fundamental requirement of socialist modernization,but also the practical need to comprehensively promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese-style modernization.Therefore,it is of great practical significance and far-reaching historical significance to study the subject of Chinese-style modernization in which material civilization and spiritual civilization are coordinated.Human civilization is a collection of material civilization and spiritual civilization.The material production practices carried out by humans in the process of understanding and transforming nature have created human material civilization;At the same time,the spiritual production practices of humans,which have diverged from material production practices and exist independently,have created human spiritual civilization.It can also be said that while humans are understanding and transforming the objective world,constantly developing material civilization,they are also transforming their own subjective world,constantly developing spiritual civilization.From this,it can be seen that material civilization and spiritual civilization are generated synchronously and closely related.Among them,material civilization is the material foundation for the development of spiritual civilization,and spiritual civilization is the ideological guarantee for the development of material civilization.The two interact,promote,condition,and purpose with each other.Although material civilization and spiritual civilization have emerged simultaneously,the coordinated development of the two is not a natural occurrence or realization.Material civilization and spiritual civilization have their own different development laws,which can lead to situations where material civilization is leading and spiritual civilization is lagging behind,or where material civilization is lagging behind and spiritual civilization is leading.Only by scientifically understanding and handling the dialectical relationship between material civilization and spiritual civilization can we promote the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization.Therefore,it is the goal and pursuit of Chinese-style modernization to constantly promote the coordination of material civilization and spiritual civilization.Chinese-style modernization is a modernization that coordinates material civilization and spiritual civilization,which is determined by the scientific theory of Marxism,the innovative theory of Marxism with Chinese characteristics and modernization,and the inherent requirements of excellent traditional Chinese culture.The theories of Marx and Engels on the coordinated development of economy and culture,Lenin on the construction of socialist economy and culture,Mao Zedong on the dialectical unity of material and spirit,as well as the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics on the coordination of material civilization and spiritual civilization,are the theoretical sources of Chinese-style modernization.At the same time,the essence of the thought of enriching the people,the idea of justice and benefit,and the idea of rationality in the excellent traditional Chinese culture also reflects the exploration and pursuit of the ancient Chinese for the coordination of material civilization and spiritual civilization.In addition,some Western theories on the relationship between material and spiritual aspects have also provided useful references for the development of Chinese-style modernization in the process of reflection and criticism.We should absorb all excellent achievements of human civilization and provide theoretical support for Chinese-style modernization.It is a practical process to realize Chinese-style Modernization in which material civilization and spiritual civilization are coordinated.The establishment of the People’s Republic of China,especially since the reform and opening up,has laid a practical exploration and foundation for the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization.The period from 1949 to 1978 was a preliminary exploration period for the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization.On the one hand,we proposed the ideological theory of balanced and coordinated development of socialist revolution and construction,and on the other hand,we comprehensively restored the development of economic and cultural education undertakings,effectively ensuring the material and spiritual cultural life of the people.The main problem we faced during this period was the exaggeration of subjective spiritual effects that brought development difficulties.This was also due to the weak material foundation of economic construction at that time,and the special historical conditions of relying more on spiritual power to promote socialist modernization construction.The period from 1979 to 1986 was the stage when the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization was fully established.With the deepening of reform and opening up,we deepened our understanding of the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization,and made clear the strategic policy of "both hands,both hands must be hard" for material civilization and spiritual civilization.Chinese-style Modernization,which is coordinated with material civilization and spiritual civilization,has a clearer direction of progress.The main problem we faced during this period was the weakening of spiritual civilization construction caused by ideological liberation and social change.The period from 1987 to 2012 was the stage of coordinated development and innovative practice of material civilization and spiritual civilization.We pushed forward the reform of the economic system and the construction of advanced socialist culture,and then transformed the mode of economic development to build a socialist core value system.The Chinese-style Modernization that coordinated material civilization and spiritual civilization has made remarkable development achievements.The main problem we faced during this period was the rapid development of the economy and the emergence of moral misconduct,which led to a rapid improvement in people’s material living standards.However,some erroneous ideas and concepts also had a negative impact on shaping people’s spiritual world and values.Since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,we have continued to expand and promote Chinese-style modernization from a new historical starting point,and put forward a new idea of building a Chinese-style modernization with material civilization and spiritual civilization in harmony.Ideologically,we have made clear the inevitability of Chinese-style modernization in which material civilization and spiritual civilization are coordinated.This is the requirement of the times,which has never seen a great change in the world in a hundred years.It is the internal stipulation of the original mission of the CPC,the fundamental requirement of a strong socialist modernization country,and the inevitable choice to realize the ardent expectations of the Chinese people;It provides theoretical guidance for continuing to promote Chinese-style modernization in which material civilization and spiritual civilization are coordinated;We have achieved new achievements in the coordination of material civilization and spiritual civilization in Chinese-style modernization in practice.The country’s hard and soft power have advanced side by side,and the level of prosperity and civilization in the whole society has been orderly improved.The people’s needs for a better life have been continuously met,enriching the theory and practice of world modernization,and creating a new form of human civilization.At present,the realization of Chinese-style Modernization in which material civilization and spiritual civilization are coordinated still faces some new problems,which are mainly manifested in the imbalance and inadequacy of the development of material civilization and spiritual civilization.The imbalance in the development of material civilization and spiritual civilization is mainly reflected in the relatively independent development laws of material civilization and spiritual civilization,leading to the problem of imbalance.In reality,there is an imbalance between urban and rural areas in the development of material civilization and spiritual civilization;The insufficient development of material and spiritual civilization is reflected in the significant gap between China and the goal of building a socialist modernized strong country,and the insufficient satisfaction of the growing needs of the people for a better life.The reason for the current imbalance and inadequacy in the development of material and spiritual civilization is that the situation of "one hand being hard,one hand being soft",the solidification of urban-rural differences and social policy bias,as well as the materialistic tendency towards human needs.Only with a clear understanding of the problems in development can we accurately find ways to solve them.To solve the outstanding problem of the coordination of material civilization and spiritual civilization,we first need to continue to promote the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization at the national level,accumulate the solid material foundation of Chinese-style Modernization,strengthen the strong spiritual force of Chinese-style Modernization,and continue to promote Chinese-style Modernization in the direction of the coordination of material civilization and spiritual civilization;Secondly,efforts should be made at the social level to build a society of common prosperity for all people.On the one hand,we should promote the great enrichment of resources to enhance people’s well-being,and on the other hand,we should promote the common prosperity of people’s spiritual life;Finally,it is necessary to continuously improve people’s ideological and moral level and cultural literacy at the individual level,guide
