| In the 1990s,when the International Communist Movement entered low ebb,the South African Communist Party(the SACP)was one of the few Marxist political parties that rose again and influenced the national power. It played an important and unique role in the process of democratization in South Africa. This dissertation examines the revival of the SACP under the historical background of the low tide of world socialism.First of all, take the establishment and early struggle of the party as the historical background;understand the changes of the party, and on this basis to deeply observe its reconstruction process. This study believes that the change in the international environment prompted the party to reflect on the upheaval in the Soviet Union and the East, and the domestic political change created a favorable opportunity for it to start the reconstruction. In order to adapt to the changes in the environment, the leadership core of the Party overcame the differences, adjusted the line of struggle, ideology and economic thought, abandoned the line of armed struggle and the principle of militarization, accepted power sharing, and formed the Tripartite Alliance.Based on these adjustments, the structure of the SACP is crisscrossed and mutually supportive, with its organizational principles inheriting democratic centralism and intra party unity. While implementing the party committee system at all levels, the Party’s leading Party group and party members are embedded in other non-Party organizations, promoting the Party and other non-Party organizations to form a joint leadership will and realize coordinated actions, which has paved the way for the party’s influence on state power. After a democratic breakthrough in South Africa, the party became a joint ruling party through a tripartite alliance and participated in politics. With the tripartite coalition winning a long general election,South African politics has entered a period of democratic consolidation. The Party considers the tripartite alliance as a strategic alliance.Through this political framework,it can touch the core of the capitalist power, transform the will of the political party into the will of the state, and thus gradually improve the contrast of class power in the state power. In dealing with the alliance,it maintains the unity and the independence of the party.Based on the changes of the tripartite alliance, the functions of the political party have also changed from promoting democratic breakthrough to the pursuit of ballot and public office. At the same time, the party is responsible for the ideological dominance and internal coordination of the alliance. However, due to the party’s preference for public office,it excessively concentrates the opinions of the upper level of the Party, and the integration of the opinions of primary Party organizations and ordinary Party members is ignored, resulting in the division of values within the Party and the loss of ordinary Party members. The reconstruction of the party provided an institutionalized channel for political participation for newly mobilized social groups, creating a good atmosphere for political negotiations and the transfer of power in South Africa. However, the political power the party gained is attached to the three-way alliance, which promotes its position in the South African power landscape by strengthening the cohesion of the alliance. This presents a series of new topics for the subsequent development of the party. |
