With more than one hundred years’development,anthropology has been evolved into an interdisciplinary and comprehensive discipline.Anthropology studies human beings and human culture,with its diverse sub-disciplines,it digs into the development and current situation of human beings and human culture comprehensively and throughly.With its broad view and scientific approaches,anthropology has deeply influenced other social science discplines.From the end of 20^th century,there has been a strong wave of anthropological orientation in huamannities and social sicence,hence emerges the discipline of literary anthropology studies in China.Based on Archetype Theory,focusing on myth study,the discipline of literary anthropology studies intends to analyze literary and cultural texts from anthropological approach.The theory construction of literary anthropology studies has reached great success since its establishment.Important theories like“N-level Coding”theory and“Little and Big Tradition”theory have fully presented the essence and purpose of literary anthropology studies.Recent years,the theories and methods of literary anthropology studies have been widely used in different kinds of social science studies,which proves the academic value of literary anthropology studies.The thesis intends to decode Pema Tseden’s novels and movies with the theories and methods of literary anthropology studies,hence to explore the new study areas of the literary anthropology studies and to present the rich connotations and social values of Chinese ethnic groups’culture.Pema Tseden is one of the most prominent contemporary Tibetan cultural figures.With rich cultural symbols and cultural connotations,his works depict the authentic Tibetan culture and society,which shows great anthropological value.Most of the studies on Pema Tseden’s works concentrate on the technique and theme of his novels and movies,while few is about the anthropological value of his works,thus,the research purports to analyze his works from anthropological angle,so as to show his reflections on people and culture,and to provide new ideas for the studies on ethnic groups’novels and movies.The thesis begins with the introduction part,in which the research background and significance,the related researches,the main theories and methods used in the research,the difficulties,the innovations and the shoromings of the research are elucidated.The first chapter presents Pema Tseden’s multi-cutural background and his cultural identity.Besides,his unique presentation of Tibetan societies and the comparison with other authors’and directors’presentations are also discussed.Pema Tseden’s multi-cultural background has deeply influenced his artistic creation,which makes his works quite culturally inclusive.The artistic style of many contemporary novels and movies concerning Tibetan culture is quite magnificent and glorious,while Pema Tseden’s works are always very concise and subtle.In the second chapter,according to the anthropological classification of ceremonies,the ceremonies in Pema Tseden’s works are thoroughly analyzed.The study of ceremonies is an important part in anthropological research,and the study of the ceremonies in Pema Tseden’s works is to dig into Tibetan’s society structure and cultural condition.In the third chapter,different cultural symbols and images in Pema Tseden’s works are decoded under the perspective of literary anthropology studies.The fourth chapter studies the mythological traits in Pema Tseden’s works from the mythological approach of literary anthropology studies.The anthropological values of Pema Tseden’s works are illustrated in the conclusion part.Anthropology is to study“human beings”and“culture”,and the thesis is to study the“human beings”and“culture”in Pema Tseden’s works,which partly reflects the destiny of all human beings.To sum up,the research studies Pema Tseden’s works from the perspective of anthropology and literary anthropology studies.The purpose is to expand the study areas of anthropology and literary anthropology studies,also to present the anthropological values of Pema Tseden’s works.What’s more,Pema Tseden’s multi-cutural background and his artistic creations under the background fully manifest the advantages of China’s“Diversity in Unity”setup!...
