This article mainly focuses on the archaeological excavations of proto-porcelain from the Xia Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period in China.By using methods such as archaeological typology, cultural factor analysis and unearthed scenario analysis, the Staging and Chronology of proto-porcelain from the Xia Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period are established.Based on the characteristics of proto-porcelain,regional divisions are carried out,and the spatial distribution of proto-porcelain in each stage is examined. The usage methods and ritual system significance of proto-porcelain in each stage and region are discussed and summarized in detail,By analyzing and discussing the technology and product characteristics of proto-porcelain kilns, the production and kiln technology development of proto-porcelain were clarified, and on this basis, the circulation system of proto-porcelain from the Xia Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period was explored. The full text is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is an introduction.Introduce the research object and spatiotemporal range, and explain the criteria for determining the proto-porcelain.A detailed review of the research on proto-porcelain from the Xia Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period was conducted, and the main achievements and shortcomings of previous studies were summarized.Based on this, the research ideas of this article were proposed. The second chapter mainly studies the staging, chronological arrangement, and regional characteristics of proto-porcelain from the Xia Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period.Through archaeological typological research, the proto-porcelain stages and chronological sequences were established, and their development was divided into five stages:the Xia Dynasty to the early and middle Shang Dynasty, the late Shang Dynasty, the early and middle Western Zhou, the late Western Zhou to the early Spring and Autumn Period, and the middle and late Spring and Autumn Period.According to the specific characteristics of proto-porcelain,the period from the Xia Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period is divided into five regions: A,B,C,D,and E.At the same time, the temporal spatial distribution and regional characteristics of proto-porcelain in each stage are inspected. The third chapter mainly focuses on the study of the usage methods and ritual system significance of proto-porcelain.By analyzing the types, combinations, and unearthed scenarios of proto-porcelain in various stages and regions, and focusing on examining the sociological significance of proto-porcelain,this paper summarizes the diachronic changes in the preferences and usage of proto-porcelain in each region during the Xia Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period,as well as the mutual influence of each region. The preference and usage of proto-porcelain in Zone A are fundamentally related to the usage system of the Central Plains Dynasty. The ritualization of proto-porcelain is closely related to bronze ware, and proto-porcelain has gradually become a supplement to bronze ware and integrated into the usage system of the Central Plains Dynasty. The ritualization of proto-porcelain during the Xia Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period can be divided into two stages: the formation of the ritualization of proto-porcelain directly led by the Central Plains region during the Xia,Shang, and Western Zhou periods, and the indirect influence of the ritualization concept in the Central Plains region on the development of proto-porcelain ritualization in the Southeast region during the Spring and Autumn period. The ritualization culture in the Central Plains region played a huge role in the ritualization process of proto-porcelain during the Xia Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period. The fourth chapter mainly discusses the production technology of proto-porcelain.Firstly,starting from the aspects of proto-porcelain kilns and related relics,as well as the characteristics of proto-porcelain products, the production and development of proto-porcelain in various stages were sorted out.At the same time, the diachronic development and phased changes of proto-porcelain kiln technology were inspected, clarifying the dragon kiln technology from the Shang Dynasty to the early and middle period of the Western Zhou Dynasty, the late period of the Western Zhou Dynasty to the early spring and autumn period The impact of the three development stages of the mid to late Spring and Autumn period,as well as the two production technology innovations from the late Shang Dynasty to the Shang and Zhou dynasties, and the early late Spring and Autumn period,on the production of proto-porcelain,and the analysis of the communicate of proto-porcelain kiln technology between different regions.Chapter 5 mainly studies the circulation system of proto-porcelain.By exploring the circulation and distribution patterns of proto-porcelain between different stages and regions,as well as within each region,it was found that there existed a north-south circulation system of proto-porcelain dominated by Zone A during the Xia,Shang, and Western Zhou periods, and an east-west circulation system of proto-porcelain dominated by Zone C during the Spring and Autumn periods. The role of each region in these two circulation systems and the driving factors behind the circulation of proto-porcelain were also explored.Chapter 6 is the conclusion, which mainly summarizes the achievements of the above research and points out the shortcomings of this article.
