This article based on the category perception experimental task, using Mongolian monosyllabic words as experimental corpus,to investigate the perception boundaries of the initial short vowels, long vowels, and long short opposing vowels of Mongolian words in VC and CVC syllable types,as well as the factors affecting the perception. At first, the experimental phonetics method is used to record the experimental corpus of initial short vowels, long vowels and long and short opposite vowels in Mongolian, and the formant and duration parameters are extracted by Praat software.Use MinispeechLab to perform acoustic vowel map.Acoustic analysis is an important fundamental work for conducting perception experiments.Secondly, identification and differentiation experiments were conducted on E-prime software, and finally data statistics and analysis were conducted on Excel and SPSS.The category perception refers to a speech perception type in which a speech continuum is not continuous in perception and is divided into different categories. As the smallest phonetic unit in language that can distinguish meaning, the perception of phonemes undoubtedly belongs to category perception. This article aims to study the following issues:1.Study the perception types between vowel phonemes, with a focus on whether there is an perception boundary between vowel phonemes;2.Obtain the perception boundary value between vowel phonemes,to further analyze whether the boundary value is a fixed or dynamic value;3.Analyze the factors that affect perception boundaries, such as syllable type, consonant type, stimulus presentation order, and subject gender;4.Research the relationship between acoustic characteristics and perception features. This article consists of an introduction, five chapters, summary, references, and appendices. The introduction section mainly elaborates on the source of the topic, research significance, research overview, research content, and research methods, and provides a detailed introduction to the experimental design, corpus selection, and other related experimental content of this study. The first chapter is an experiment on the perception of short vowel phonemes in the first syllable of a word.It mainly analyzes the auditory characteristics of short vowel phonemes in VC and CVC syllable types, and examines the influence of consonant types and syllable types on auditory boundaries.Chapter 2 conducted perception experiments on the long vowel phonemes of the first syllable of words with different syllable types, and examined the impact of consonant types and syllable types on perception boundaries.Chapter 3 conducted perception experiments on the phonemes of different syllable types of long and short opposing vowels.Mainly examined the boundary and perception characteristics of long and short opposing vowels. The fourth and fifth chapters examined the factors that affect perception perception from two aspects:the order of detection interface options and the gender of the subjects. The conclusion section summarizes the main conclusions and viewpoints of the entire article, and points out the limitations of this article and future work prospects. The appendix contains all the experimental corpus for this experiment. The conclusion drawn from perception experiments on the initial vowels of Mongolian words is as follows:1.In general, there are perception boundaries between Mongolian vowels, and their perception is mainly category, supplemented by continuous.2.Due to the influence of different consonants, syllable types and presentation order, the perception boundaries of each comparison group appears dynamic characteristics rather than a fixed value.3.By comparing the perception of long vowel experimental words with short vowel words, such as[(?):1]-[?:l]and[(?)l]-[?l],[th(?):s]-[th(?):s]and[th(?)s]-[th(?)s],[xo:r]-[xu:r]and[xor]-[xur],[(?):x]-[u:x]and[(?)x]-[ux],it was found that the category of short vowels was higher than that of long vowels. In addition, the intra category discrimination rate of long vowel experimental words in the four comparative groups was higher than that of the corresponding short vowel experimental words, this result supports the cure duration hypothesis.4.Among long and short opposing vowels, the perception range of long vowels is significantly larger than that of corresponding short vowels. And there are systematic differences in the boundary position values of long and short opposing vowels in different syllable types in the same comparison group.5.The formant frequency pattern and the tongue position on the front and back dimensions of consonants determine the auditory boundary state between vowel phonemes.6.In order to further investigate whether consonants have an impact on the perception boundary of comparative vowel groups,it was found through correlation tests that consonant type and syllable type have a significant impact on the perception boundary in linguistic factors, while the detection interface options in non linguistic factors, such as display order and gender, have no significant impact on the perception boundary, meaning there is no statistically difference. As the first step of Mongolian phoneme perception, this study will provide a reference basis for Mongolian phoneme perception research, and it is of great significance in improving the psychological attributes of Mongolian phoneme perception.
