From Figuration Sculpture To Concept Art

As a unique art form stone sculptures art has a lot of classical stone sculptures works in the world’s history and it has a variety of features in different regions and cultures.Since the20 th century the works of Korean stone sculptors have formed different forms and features.The creation of stone media has a new era of significance reflected in the evolution of stone sculptures art language.From the traditional Korean stone art form to the artist-led development of Korean art,Korean stone art has undergone a transformation from pragmatism to aesthetic and conceptual values.In Korea’s comprehensive art,stone sculpture experienced a transformation from figurative art to conceptual art,and after the modeling methods of Western sculpture were introduced to Korea,they gradually formed "self-consciousness".The development of Korean stone Sculptures art is steadily connected with the world and progressively improves the mainstream art that occurs in the context of global art.When the creative context of stone sculptures art in Korea gradually globalized,the Korean stone sculptures art language was also integrated and explored the unique visuals of the locals in different creative dimensions.This thesis includes five chapters.From the historical origin of Korean Stone Sculpture to the changes and development of Korean figurative stone sculpture.From the rise of Korean abstract sculpture to the diversified exploration of stone by Korean artists and the practice of stone sculptures in Korea.Finally,the transformation process and specific changes of the Korean stone sculptures art language since the 20 th century.The continuation and development of Korean figurative stone sculptures are mainly manifested in the change from religious images to secular content.The artist’s thoughts and materials become the core of creation.Representative artists such as Kim bok-jin and Jeun Loi-jin emerged in the development of figurative sculpture.They brought back not only the Western modeling language and modeling style from Japan and Europe but also pioneered the exploration of the Korean sculptors.Due to the particularity and limitations of the introduction techniques,Korean figurative sculpture presents a simple visual language.In the middle of the 20 th century,Korean stone sculptures art transformed a trend towards the exploration of abstract language,and a number of people such as Kim Jong-young emerged,and carried out local exploration and transformation in stone sculptures creation.At the same time,Korean stone sculptures artists have made a semantic exploration of the material itself in the face of the stone.With the development of science and technology,the use of artificial stone has been well expressed.From the late 20 th century to the present,the introduction of conceptual art and its embodiment in stone sculptures art have been well developed in Korean artists and artworks.After the appearance of artistic language in Korea at different times,the existing artistic style and avant-garde art trend complemented each other and enriched the present situation of Korean stone art.Such a variety of attempts and expressions can stand in the context of art history to find and establish a new artistic language,forming a possibility of promoting the development of art.Since the 20 th century,Korean stone art has undergone a transformation of language.A lot of works emerged from different artistic trends and artistic ideas.Compared with the same period in Japan and China,the emergence and transmutation of language are very different in time,but the development of the logic is the same,which also,to a certain extent,shows that the context of globalization of art creation is gradual,not overnight,no matter how different the time and duration of the occurrence.Figurative,abstract,and conceptual artistic languages have occurred in different regions and have been localized through various processes.This means the implantation into the formation of consciousness.
