Since its opening in 1843(the 23rd year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty),Shanghai has gradually become the first market in East Asia and a cultural gathering area in the world.This diversified and open oriental city has attracted the attention of all over the world.During the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,Sichuan businessmen,politicians,scholars,students,workers,doctors,journalists and artists with foresight and courage successively left their hometown and came to Shanghai through the Yangtze River.With the theme of "Save the Nation From Subjugation",they wrote their life experiences with the same frequency as the turbulent times.In 1896(the 22nd year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty),Sichuan people living in Shanghai had the first fellow organization in modern China-Shanghai Shu Business Office.Since then,various Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai,such as Sichuan Fellow Association in Shanghai and Sichuan Student Fellow Association in Shanghai,had been established successively.These organizations maintain the feelings and interests of Sichuan people in Shanghai and had made due contributions to the modernization of Shanghai,Sichuan and even China.The purpose of this paper is to show the whole picture of Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai from 1896 to 1949,and to research the nature,purpose,organizational structure and members of more than 130 Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai in each period according to the stages of modern Chinese society and revolution.This paper focuses on the public welfare charitable of Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai in various periods and their relationship with several major events in modern Chinese revolutionary history,presents the noble public welfare spirit and patriotic feelings of Sichuan people in Shanghai,and reveals the important influence of the Communist Party of China on Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai as the object of the United Front.This paper also proves that the modern Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai have integrated into and promoted the revival history of the Chinese nation from the beginning.They are not feudal groups in traditional society,but national organizations with strong modern color and nature.Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai actively participated in the national revolutionary struggle in modern China and made due contributions to the "Stand Up" of the Chinese nation.Their change process in half a century shows some details in the formation of the "Chinese National Community".This paper is divided into six chapters: the first chapter is the Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai in the late Qing Dynasty(1896-1911),which examines the public welfare undertakings of Sichuan fellow organizations and their role in the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty from three parts: the general situation of Sichuan fellow organizations in the late Qing Dynasty,the public welfare activities of Sichuan fellow organizations in the late Qing Dynasty,the relationship between Sichuan fellow organizations and the Railway Project Crisis.The second chapter is the Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai in the early years of the Republic of China(1912-1923),which examines the strengthening of the charity function and the increasingly strong political consciousness and patriotic action of Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai after the founding of the Republic of China from five parts:the overview of Sichuan fellow organizations,the public welfare and charity activities of Sichuan fellow organizations,the relationship between Sichuan fellow organizations and Cai E,the relationship between Sichuan fellow organizations and the North-South Peace Negotiation,and the national salvation activities of Sichuan fellow organizations before and after the May 4th Movement.The third chapter is the Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai during the First Revolutionary Civil War(1924-1927),which examines the historical facts that Sichuan fellow organizations were led or influenced by the Communist Party of China as the object of the United Front from four parts:the overview of Sichuan fellow organizations,the public welfare and charity activities of Sichuan fellow organization,the national salvation activities of Sichuan fellow organizations before and after the May 30th Movement and the Wanxian Tragedy.The fourth chapter is the Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai during the Second Revolutionary Civil War(1928-1937),which examines the anti imperialist and anti warlord activities of Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai,especially shows their series of outstanding anti imperialist struggles before and after the September 18th Incident,and also reproduces the historical facts of the cruel exploitation and oppression of the Sichuan people by the Sichuan warlords in this period,as well as the relief activities of Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai to the famine in their hometown from six parts:the overview of Sichuan fellow organizations,the anti warlord struggle of Sichuan fellow organizations,the Anti Japanese and national salvation activities of Sichuan fellow organizations before and after the September 18th Incident,the opposition of Sichuan fellow organizations to the establishment of Japanese Consulate in Chengdu,Sichuan fellow organizations raising funds for the severe flood in Sichuan in 1931 and the extreme famine in Sichuan in 1937.The fifth chapter is the Sichuan fellow Organizations in Shanghai during the Comprehensive Anti Japanese War(1937-1945),which examines the history of Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai concentrated all their efforts to carry out Anti Japanese and national salvation activities after the outbreak of the Comprehensive Anti Japanese War,especially shows the outstanding contributions made by Anti Enemy Support Association of Sichuan Fellow Association in Shanghai and its Wartime Service Group to Shanghai and the whole country from three parts:the overview of Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai during the Comprehensive Anti Japanese War,the anti Japanese and national salvation activities of Sichuan fellow organizations after the "August 13" Songhu Anti Japanese War,and the situation of Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai during the isolated island period of Shanghai.The sixth chapter is the Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai during the War of Liberation(1946-1949),which examines the various undertakings of Sichuan fellow organizations in Shanghai during this period,especially studies their participation in the Shanghai school tide led by
