Study On Seal Carving In Jiahe Region In The Qing Dynast

During the Qing dynasty,the development of seal theory flourished in Jiaxing,with the orderly development of seal learning in this region,the establishment of seal families,the concentration of quatrains and treatises on seals,the appreciations and collections of seal,the collectionn of seal stamps and the preface and postscript of impressions of seals link together.The local seal engravers of Jiaxing,such as Zhang Tingji,Zhang Yanchang,“Yuanhu Sishan”(Qian Shanyang,Sun sanxi,Cao Shimo and Wen Ding),the monks Shi Dashou and Shi Mingzhong,and Guo Lin and Hu Jue living in Jiaxing,innovated on the basis of their teachers of Wen He,Su Xuan and Ding Jing,and showed certain school characteristics on the whole.The family of Zhang Yanchang,Xu Zhenmu,Cha Xuanji,and Xiang Bingsen were the representatives of a number of families of seal engravers,and Chen Keshu and Huang Xifan were the representatives of a mature theory of seal engravers.The eighty-four quatrains Quatrains of seal theory of the seven Jiaxing seal engravers,represented by Wu Qian,Zhou Chun and Chen Zhan,were a concentrated display of the poetry of seal theory.From Li Rihua and Xiang Yuanbian in the middle and late Ming Dynasty to Zhu Yizun and Zhang Tingji in the early and mid-Qing Dynasty,the local literati of Jiaxing had a certain social culture in collecting and appreciating seals and the collection of seal was in order.The main issues of this paper are the formation factors of “seal culture” in Jiahe,the inheritance,development and spread of literati seal carving,the collection of seal stamps,seal appreciation and collection activities,the communication activities about seal of literati and seal engravers,with emphasis on seal appreciation and collection activities in the elegant activities of seal engravers,and the “concept of seal ” in the seal theory as well as preface and postscript of collection of seal stamps and poetry of seal theory of Jiahe seal engravers.The paper attempts to construct a cultural circle of Jiahe regional seal engravers through the study of the group of Jiahe regional seal engravers,seal theory and seal thinking,and to further supplement the history of literati seal carving and the history of regional seal in the Qing Dynasty.
