A Study On The Composition Of Notebooks In Song Dynasty

The notebooks in Song Dynasty contributes a great part of Chinese ancient notebook literature,which form is greatly molded by notebooks composited in Song Dynasty,which plays an important role in history of Chinese ancient notebook literature.This thesis starts with a research on the structure of Song notebooks,and focuses on the composition of Song notebooks,meanwhile discussing the transition and transformation of their form and structure during their spreading and acceptance.The structure of this thesis are constructed on the basis of the structure of Song notebooks.The first chapter,"On the Names of Song Notebooks" takes the names of Song Notebooks initial to observe thoroughly the general principles of notebook naming in Song Dynasty.On this basis,this chapter discusses two main situations separately,namely the authority of writers who name their notebook by themselves,and the variations of notebook names caused by printing,publishing and circulation.In the former situation,naming notebooks by themselves can be rendered a part of composition,while changing names of notebooks is a reflection of changing of notebook texts during spreading and circulation.The second chapter,“On the Prefaces and Postscripts of Song Notebooks”explores the history of writing prefaces and postscripts before Song Dynasty as well as their characteristics.Furthermore,this part argues on the inheritance and innovation of Song notebooks,and stresses on the composition principle of two main functions of notebooks,which are the supplementing and textual researching of history.The third chapter,"On the Categories of Song Notebooks" analyzed the importance of Categories in optimizing the notebook structure,and defining the composition target.Different notebooks hardly resemble their categories,which present different writers’ knowledge and experiences,and at the same time reflect the spirit of their times.When it comes to the structures of notebooks,categories bring life to the notebooks,making the structures more plausible and the texts much easier to be accepted.The fourth chapter,"On the Headlines of Song Notebooks" starts exploration with a study on headlines in certain notebooks,and argues on the formation of headline.Two kinds of headlines are considered.One is headlines added by the writers themselves,and the other one is headlines supplemented by others.The headlines added by the writers themselves are parts of notebook composition,while those supplemented by others are textual derivatives emergedduring spreading and circulation.The headline is an important part of the composition and structure of notebooks,and the product replying to readers’ needs.The fifth chapter,"On the Articles of Song Notebooks" mainly investigates the changing process,the composition status and the literature functions of articles in notebooks.The article is the primitive accountant and basic element of notebook composition.A study on the articles of notebook helps to deepen the exploration of mending and supplementing problems in notebook composition.What’s more,this study contributes to distinguishing forged notebooks and collecting scattered notebooks.Interpreting the composition of Song notebooks means to be involved into variations derived from composition and circulation of notebooks as ancient documents.The derivation and variation of notebook texts have to be studied thoroughly in the background of philological cultural history.Consequently,a view of the philological cultural history plays an important role from the beginning to the end of this thesis.
