| With the support of information and communication technology, the business format of Sharing Economy has swept the world in recent years. In the market boom, people begun to explore the meaning of "sharing" for social development from its roots, reflecting on the role of "sharing" in public service and political participation, environmental resource investment and consumption, human well-being,etc.,beyond the exchange of goods and economic activities. This has led to a significant amount of theoretical research and practical exploration on topics such as why cities should share resources, how to share resources, how to re-create value, and how to create a more equitable and democratic environment. These theoretical research and practical exploration gradually shaping the ideal city concept of "Sharing City." At the same time,in line with the policy of "aiming for common prosperity" under socialism with Chinese characteristics,China introduced the concept of Development for the Benefit of All at the Fifth Plenary Session of the 18 th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and included it as one of the Five Concepts for Development guiding the country’s developing in the new era.Its essence is to adhere to the people-centered development concept and let the broad masses share the fruits of reform and development. The theoretical value of Sharing City concept lies in implementing the Development for the Benefit of All and pointing to the goal of Common Prosperity. The ideal city concept is of great significance to the theoretical exploration of Chinese Path to Modernization. As a new topic in urban planning research,Sharing City is usually described as a “higher-level” city that is affluent, having sincere citizens, and built in high technology. Some scholars claim that the construction of Sharing City is the inevitable path of new urbanization in new era.It is the contemporary foothold of the theory of increasing the ultimate well-being of the people. However,in response to the development trend and forward-looking exploration of Sharing City, the "ought to be" and "to be" between "Sharing" and "Planning" still need to be further discussed. The objective of this thesis is to explore a method of spatial planning intervention that responds to the Sharing City concept, thus revealing a practical path that helps to achieve the Sharing City goals. The whole thesis is divided into four parts:The first part of the research focuses on the problems of spatial sharing in the context of the Sharing City concept. This section delves into the implementation actions of Sharing City concept and space planning goals, highlighting the important pathways for promoting the development of Sharing City when facing a rich and diverse array of shared urban resources. The first part explores the essential concepts of publicity behind the complex phenomena of shared space and identifies the three "ought to be" elements of space sharing. It sorts out the theoretical objective and illuminate practical implications of spatial planning under the concept of Sharing City. The second part of the research focuses on how to establish the planning intervention model and basic strategies for space sharing.Based on the deep understanding and experience of practical planning work in collaboration, analyzing deeply of collaborative planning methodologies and conducting an exploratory case study of New York High Line Park, this part builds a conceptual framework for space sharing through collaborative planning for the theoretical goal of Sharing City. The third part verifies the effectiveness and robustness of the mechanism of the conceptual framework. This part applies the Multiple Cases Study method to gradually test and revise the planning intervention theory model proposed in this paper. In this part, qualitative and quantitative analysis methods, such as archival research,on-site surveys, semistructured interviews, descriptive analysis of questionnaire data,signed-rank test, and logistic regression models are comprehensively applied.Through the in-depth investigation and study of the projects of the National Rail Corridor in Singapore, the Shunde Shenshui Co-creative Park in Foshan, and the Community Football Fields in Guangzhou,it gradually deepens the conceptual framework through cases replication,multi-factor efficiency comparison, highquality collaboration performance and boundary discussion. This part reveals the regularity that higher quality of collaboration is conducive to achieving better space sharing results. The last part is the section for conclusion and suggestion. After comprehensive analysis and verification of those cases, the stable theoretical mechanism and practical pathway guidance have been formed. From the aspect of the pathway for actualizing space sharing through collaborative planning, and the aspect of strategies for collaborative planning enhancements under the new goal of space sharing, the suggestions for comprehensive method of space sharing plan are put forward. This thesis is oriented by the concept of Sharing City.Through theoretical construction and multiple cases study,it fully deduces the "ought to be" objectives and intervening mechanism for space sharing in planning discipline.By building a theoretical framework and verifying the effectiveness of the theoretical mechanism, this thesis proposes practical pathway guidance and implementation optimization strategies for space sharing through collaborative planning, revealing a practical path for the implementation of the Sharing City concept. |
