With the environmental issues and human ecological awakening brought about by globalization,green,ecological,low-carbon,and sustainable development have become inevitable trends. The 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has made "actively and steadily promoting carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" a major national decision-making deployment. It plans to promote green and low-carbon development in a planned way to achieve the "dual-carbon" goal.China’s building carbon emissions account for about 40% of the total social carbon emissions, and developing green buildings can effectively reduce energy consumption, reduce carbon emissions, and improve the ecological environment. As an essential part of the green building system, the green university campus has good conditions for scientific research, innovation, and educational demonstration significance. It is an essential exploration of the transformation of green development from a single entity to a region. The existing "Assessment Standards for Green Campus" is a national standard but lacks differentiated indicators for specific regional climate characteristics. In addition, the content coverage of passive technology applications, indoor environment optimization, health behavior guidance, social and human factors, and comprehensive campus safety needs to be more comprehensive. The classification is result-oriented and does not organically integrate with the content and time sequence of positive design of university campuses. After evaluation,it cannot form practical guidance for the design optimization of different majors for the design plans of the evaluated projects. Therefore, this study proposes to take architects as the mainstay, starting from the design of the university campus itself, and based on the unique climate conditions of the Lingnan area,to integrate diverse evaluation elements such as ecology, low carbon, localism, health, safety, and intelligence to construct the "Evaluation System for Green University Campus Design in the Lingnan Area." Corresponding design strategies and optimization suggestions are proposed to provide evaluation criteria and guidance for designing and constructing green university campuses in the Lingnan area.Firstly, the research project summarizes the research and practical achievements of green university construction at home and abroad, the current research status of green university evaluation systems, and related studies on the construction of design evaluation systems. This chapter proposes the concept of constructing the " Evaluation System for Green University Campus Design in the Lingnan Area" based on the Delphi method and the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP).Based on the objective conditions and relevant theoretical foundations for designing green university campuses in the Pearl River Delta region, the research project clarifies the establishment goals of the evaluation system, which include ecological sustainability, green and low-carbon,local suitability, health and comfort, safety and durability, and scientific wisdom as the evaluation system. It proposes the principles of foresight, systematicity, scientificity, and feasibility for establishing the evaluation system.Through comparative analysis of evaluation methods, the steps for constructing the evaluation system and delimiting the scope of evaluation are summarized.Secondly, the research conducts a comparative analysis of domestic and international green building evaluation standards, domestic and international green university evaluation standards, and evaluation standards related to green universities or similar types.Based on this,an initial set of evaluation indicators for the Evaluation System for Green University Campus Design in the Lingnan Area is extracted. The evaluation indicators are then transformed and tested in conjunction with the current state of green university campus construction in the Lingnan area and consultation results from relevant experts. The evaluation indicator set of the Evaluation System for Green University Campus Design in the Lingnan Area is analyzed in detail, with a focus on comparing it with current domestic standards and regulations such as the Assessment Standards for Green Campus,Assessment Standards for Green Building and Assessment Standards for Green Eco-district.It appropriately references the regional expressions of indicator content from green campus evaluation standards in similar climate zones such as Singapore,India,Malaysia,Indonesia,Taiwan region, and Hong Kong region. The aim is to clarify the evaluation goals and specific content of each evaluation index. Moreover, the research constructs a hierarchical structure of evaluation factors based on the AHP method and combines the Delphi method for expert group decision-making to determine the weight values of each level of the evaluation index.Ultimately it formed a complete "Evaluation System for Green University Campus Design in the Lingnan Area." At the same time,an auxiliary system for evaluating green university campus design in the Lingnan area is designed and implemented. The evaluation procedure is tested and revised using the campus planning and design case of the University of Macau(Hengqin Island Campus). Finally, the research summarizes and evaluates design optimization strategies that are in line with the evaluation criteria and weights of the Green University Campus Design Evaluation System in the Lingnan Area, based on the construction of the evaluation system in Chapter Five, combined with the construction status, green design strategies, and technology applications of university campuses in the Lingnan area and similar climatic areas. It also constructs a framework of optimization design recommendations for green university campuses in the Lingnan area by professional category, facilitating designers to retrieve corresponding optimization design strategies and green technologies quickly. This framework enables the evaluation system to provide guidance and modification for green university campus design practices. The research project draws on existing green campus evaluation standards, green building evaluation standards, and other relevant evaluation standards both domestically and internationally to extract an evaluation indicator set specifically for the Lingnan area’s unique climatic characteristics and university campus design phase.Through the involvement of the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)and expert questionnaires, the project assigns weights to the indicators and establishes a comprehensive "Evaluation System for Green University Campus Design in the Lingnan Area." The research also designs and develops an assistance software for the "Evaluation System for Green University Campus Design in the Lingnan Area," providing a quantitative evaluation basis and operational platform for green university campuses design in the Lingnan area.Furthermore, this research derives optimized design strategies that correspond to the "Evaluation System for Green University Campus Design in the Lingnan Area." During the design phase of university campuses in the Lingnan area, the project promotes the gradual infiltration of green campus concepts through multi-proposals comparisons or optimization of a single proposal. The interaction between the evaluation system and design optimization strategies collectively enhances the effectiveness of green university campus design practices in the Lingnan area.
